  1. Hi All, Anyone know how to turn on the vector lines. They would show up in Mastercam when I created a 5x toolpath. Now I get the line displaying the lower tip control but nothing to indicate direction. Maybe I'm an idiot but I sure used them a lot. Also, please forgive me if this topic has already been covered: I'm not sure what the official name is.
  2. I don't have time tonight but I'll give that a shot in the morning. Everything I do takes a lot of time because the stl is 27mb.
  3. I'm trying to work with a mesh imported from our next engine scanner. I've cut from them before, however, I have never tried to split one: It's rather impressive. I've tried so many things my head is throbbing. Do you folks know how to split a mesh? Our CNC is not tall enough to cut this part in one piece. Thanks Todd
  4. It is logical for the drive to operate in another port. The new port forces windows to run the plug and play. This reloads the drivers, mapping the device to a different port.
  5. I had this same problem only it would do it every time i tried to open x4. I went to the device manager and deleted 3 safenet drivers. I then scanned for hardware changes and it came back with the aladdin hasp. Note: I just did it so I'm not sure how permanent this solution is.
  6. Thanks for the help, however, I've tried that with no luck. Mastercam still ignores the commands.
  7. I have a series of four toolpaths that need to run in sequence. However, I need every other toolpath to have the opposite bias c+b+ vs c-b-. I have changed the misc values to reflect what I need. Didn't work, It just outputs everything -. I can't force the 5th axis to stay + because I need it to fan to -. I'm really tired of manually changing hundreds of lines of code... Please help. Thanks Todd
  8. Thanks for the advise. To me, building with solids is invaluable. These folks are going to ask me to make so many changes, I'll be working on it for a month. If I can get clean solids my changes take half as long. That was why I'm working in solids: one click changes.
  9. Thanks a bunch! It did change some faces. We may look into a seat of Wildfire. Thanks for all your help!
  10. Merlin, that would be great. I want to dissect it and find out what it did to the faces. This may give me some incite into what faces Mastercam didn't like and how I can adjust for that in my model. Thanks Todd
  11. I was hoping someone may have a solution beyond that , but I appreciate your help. I'll go back to the drawing board. Thanks again Todd
  12. Thanks John, you wouldn't believe how many times I've rebuilt this model. I tried it several different ways, just trying to get the fillet on. This is, however, the most stable form of it. If no one can get it I'll probably go back to the drawing board and start rebuilding it again.
  13. Sorry folks, I was away all weekend. I need the other 2 edges filleted. Mastercam will do a variable fillet down the edges you did; without hesitation. I need a continuous variable fillet a around the other two edges. It is not that important where the fillet begins and ends it's transition. I was going to use the long edge just above the 1" radius. Thanks Todd
  14. Tried it in Solidworks: no go. You can pick any point above the radius in the lower right to transition to .1875.
  15. I have built a complex solid and need to add radii to it. However, it's got me stumped. I've built this thing so many ways I don't even remember them all. I need a variable radius at .5" on the lower left to .1875" on the upper right. The solid is located on the ftp under Solids and is named Cladding Forum Only. I used X2 MR2 SP1 to build it. Thanks Todd
  16. Do you know the web address for that?
  17. Thanks for the help! I'll look into that.
  18. Quick questions folks. I can't find a way to select only inside or outside surface. For years I have spent hours selecting surfaces. Is there a way to select only inside or outside surface. For example, select via plane or view. Thanks Todd
  19. Thanks a bunch for your help folks! Lots of good advise here. However, I think I've decided to give up on Pine. We'll stick with Mahogany.
  20. We use quick poly to coat our patterns, and silicone mold release or baby powder for eject. Even with all of that, 2 degrees of draft and no undercuts we've ripped them in half. Ren takes us out of our market. Most of the time, aerospace are the only customers who will pay for it.
  21. We have used High Density Fiber Board but it pulls apart under the strain of thermoforming. We do use a lot of Mahogany, however, we were looking at cutting some costs: not sure it's worth it.
  22. I apologize, we are cutting 3d patterns. This means we are cutting every possible direction. We rough out the pattern with a vortex roughing bit and go back in with a Garr ball endmill and surface the entire pattern. We use a .02-.03 stepover, so it's not cutting very much. Also, I should mention, we don't have trouble going up the other side. it is only on one side of the pattern. If you picture a bowl cut into a block, we would only see this on one side of the bowl. This is particularly interesting because we cut two directions.

  24. Greg, Perfect plank is essentially prefab butcher block.
