  1. Thanks for the offers Lee and James! I covertly reinstalled V9 from a disc the I.T. guys don’t know about and I know how to reset the hasp server. All is well now. Even the snow has stop, looks like about a foot fell today, and the late afternoon sun is shining brightly off it.
  2. Thanks John, but just remember like so many threads that go south do so because of the likes of you. I come in here to ask a question and you have only replied with a smart comment and then show your true self when called on it. Later Dude, much later...
  3. quote: Truly amazing V8, V9, X, XMR1, XMR2 ...... Still mc7 :headshake: This is why I don’t post here much, before typing some dumb a$$ reply why not try to find out what the problem is or just STFU. Yes it is a MC7 file, a design of a fixture built in 2000 that my customer wants another of made. Yeah so the file is a MC7!! What is “truly amazing” is how stupid some people here, MC7?? You act like I’m still running it. Shame on me for not updating every one of thousands of MC files Toolcraft has and for coming in here pointing out a low point of Mastercam. Crappy AutoCad can open a six year old file Terry, one version back? Maybe on your planet. Call Shopware and ask them how much money Toolcraft has spent over the years keeping current and how many seats are in use here. Maybe then your pea brain could comprehend why I feel that CNC Software inc. should have designed their software so that older versions could be accessed quickly and efficiently, isn’t that what one should want when paying annually for “updates”…
  4. That’s what one of the other users here just told me. Now that just peachy, you use Mastercam for years, spending thousands and thousands of dollars on CNC’s software and now can’t open work produced on their software with the “latest and Greatest” software. What a load crap… Thanks for the thought Hardmill, but this is going to be a long term problem here, I have gigs of MC7 files I need to access regularly. I’m going to have to reinstall V9, use it (which by the way freaks out the net hasp on our server and must be manually reset after using V9). I’m saving time and making money now!
  5. Yeah I thought of that, but V9 has been removed from my machine by the I.T.guy.
  6. Good morning folks, I am having a problem this morning trying to open MC7 files in Mastercam X2, the problem is it won’t. Does any one know what’s up with opening these older versions of MC files?
  7. John, Have you gone into the properties of the shortcut on your desktop and modify the target? It comes defaulted like this: C:mcamxmastercam.exe, you need to add /S so it looks like this: C:mcamxmastercam.exe /S This fixed the trouble we were having with our nethasp and solids.
  8. Lackycam, Does your company have a USB style hasp(dongle), I have found since changing over to one it's alot less hassle taking it from computer to computer. Plus it can go through a wash cycle, twice, and still work fine. Paul B... starting to check his pockets before putting clothes in the wash
  9. quote: Paul B: You should have one of these M3 training CD's now. I sent it to Chris. Did he pass it along? , I'll have to ask him
  10. Yeah,Yeah, I'm here!! Got all wrapped up in work yesterday, I try not to let that happen to much, but they really had me on the ropes for a while there. Anyways I would enjoy being part of a users group around here! Paul B...going back to beating some more alligators back into the swamp today
  11. There are lots of tools in MC for making manufacturing drawings, layouts can be made with a boarder, and I have libraries of standard parts, boarders, notes and other things that I can merge into my drawing files that save me time. The big difference between MC and AutoCAD is that in MC you don’t need to start with an existing file that has the line weights, line styles, bla, bla, bla formatted in it. In my opinion that’s a real pain in the butt hole. I also find drawing editing to be easier in MC.
  12. Hi Storkman, I design about 2/3 of the day and program the rest, using MC for it all. Using solids for design works great for me. the layout option is real handy. I've only used MC and AutoCAD for CAD work and feel that I can enter data, ie. lines, arcs, triming and such, much quicker in MC, it rocks. Paul B.
  13. gotcha, I'll take a look this afternoon. Paul B.
  14. Hi wccprogrammer, I upload your file as temp3rev2.mc9. Is this what you are looking for? Paul B.
  15. Cadist, I put these on the ftp in a folder "modified icons" nexted to Heidi. Try putting these icon on other peoples computers see how long it takes them to notice. Paul B... thinking of where to put Heidi
