  1. They make tangless helicoils that you can insert and remove without damaging the part or the helicoil. I had a job I had to insert helicoils, screw two parts together, machine them together, dissassemble then remove the helicoils because we could not plate the parts with the helicoils in them. These worked great for that application.
  2. This ever happen to you? Open a file you programed earlier to make changes and none of the toolpaths are there. Close the file without saving changes then reopen it and they are there.
  3. Sorry chip, I been so busy I forgot to look at the replys. Its been so long since I've visited this site my e-mail has changed and I just now updated it in my profile. Thanks for all your replys.
  4. The shop I work for is looking to update a couple of our older Matsurra 500 VMCs. Most of our work is plastic and aluminum, very light weight machining. Of course cost is always an issue. The Brother is a CNC tapping center but suits the parts we make to a tee. It has a rotary pallet shuttle. Has any1 had experience with this machine or could recomend other brands they should be looking into. It has 16k rpms, 24 tools and 21.7x15.7 travel. Thanks in advance, Stonker
  5. Thanks guys, turns out I had to write enable the parameters in order to output them.
  6. The company I work for is in the process of moving into a new building. Before I disconnect power to the machines I'd like to download the parameters just in case. The machine moving first is a Matsuura RA-IIF with a Yasnac I80 control. I would greatly appreciate if anyone could step me thru this process or have any more advise on what to do before relocating machines. Thanks in advance Rich
  7. I use them in .09 thick alum with great success. We drap M3 holes first drilling using the tip on all holes then going back and tapping. It does save a tool change but more importantly frees up a pocket for another tool. If machine has a small tool magazine combination tools are helpful.
  8. Thanks guys, Your too fast. I type so slow you answer my questions before I post them.
  9. robk, That sounds like what I need but I dont have it. Is it a standard chook?
  10. I would like them all to analyze .250 dia. Some are .250 others are .252 more are .251. How can I quickly change them all to the same diameter.
  11. thanks James, i got it to label all the holes but how do i get it to change them. Im not sure what $lgb$ 1.0 jds 07/02/97 checked in doc file $lge$ means. How do i apply it to change diameters? Sorry im fairly new to this stuff. Thanks in advance
  12. I have a drawing with alot of holes that are supposed to be the same. They very in size up to .002". Is there an easy way to tag them all and change them so they all analize the same diameter.
  13. Could it be an English/Metric thing? I've seen people accidentally used the english config file and program metric drawings, parts still came out ok but backplot time was way off.
  14. You create an NCI file from the gcode. Then backplot the NCI using the create geometry feature. I see it would be very confusing on most machined parts depending on programing style. It works well for us on laser programs. Probably works good on wire edm programs too.
  15. James, Old laser programs are easier to reverse post then to start from scratch. They are mostly just XY moves with no cutter diameter. Backplot creates the geometry of the flat blank that hopefully worked in the past for the brake tooling they have or it gives you a great starting point from what you are currently producing off the laser.
  16. Hey guys, I have been manualy changing the g-code on tapping cycles after its posted for rigid tapping. I would like to set up a custom drill cycle to post out the proper info but not sure how to do it. I think it has something to do with this: pdrlcst #Custom drill cycles 8 - 19 (user option) #Use this postblock to customize drilling cycles 8 - 19 pdrlcommonb "CUSTOMIZABLE DRILL CYCLE ", pfxout, pfyout, pfzout, pfcout, e pcom_movea pdrlcst_2 #Custom drill cycles 8 - 19, additional points (user option) #Use this postblock to customize drilling cycles 8 - 19 pdrlcommonb "CUSTOMIZABLE DRILL CYCLE ", pfxout, pfyout, pfzout, pfcout, e pcom_movea Can someone help walk me thru this? Thanks in advance.

Now that I got your attention, I have a post question. When using the adjust start and end of contour in lead in/out it posts out 3 X moves in a row. Is there something in my post that will ignore the first 2 and just go to the last one? Thanks in advance.
  18. Thanks, Thats exacty what I wanted. You guys are awsome! One minute responce time, where else can you get that kind of support.
  19. Ive seen this before but dont know how to activate it. How do I get more info to display at the bottom of the screen than just the XYZs? Id like to see tool being used while its backplotting and maybe work offset too. Thanks in advance for your help.
  20. Thank you both for your help. I tried Paul's method first and it worked. Once again, what a resource.
  21. *progno, "(",sprogname,".NC", ")", e This line in my post outputs my program name followed by a blank space then .NC. I would like to have no blank space between the file name and .NC. Can someone show me how to achieve this? Thanks, Rich
  22. I had this problem too. The post needed to be updated to V9 from V8. My reseller helped me fix it. Try another post.
  23. Can you show us your G-code, maybe I can figure it out.
  24. Thanks, I changed it to an endmill and it did look better. The stock cleaned up where it didnt before. The cutter does have big facets. Is there a way increasing the quality or is it just my video card?
  25. 2 Flute, I'm using the cylinder set to 73mm dia with Zs from 0 to +10mm for my stock shape. Its just not letting the finish cutters clean up like it should.
