  1. well after looking at the part closely i have a little mismatch at the end of the pocket but i think i can figure it out. if they dont accept the part the way it is and i have to do it as one tool path then do you have any recomendations. i was able to get the pocket to run with out cutter comp in msurf and it looked good (except it went oversize by the size of the cutter) but then when i tried to add CC it wont finish the outer part of the pocket and it ends up with steps and humps & bumps. oh and on max rad they really want a sharp corner.
  2. ive tried curve flow msurf swarf,i just cant seem to get a good blend if i use 2 different types.i finally went with surfacing for everything except the outer edge and used swarf for that.waiting for part to come back from inspection to see if its acceptable. max fillet is .010 and finish is 64.
  3. file is in mc9 files named 264284. ive been working on this for about 3 days,i have 3yrs on MC but only a few months on multiaxis.i do understand surfacing pretty well but this doesnt seem to help here. one other thing other than mastercam books where can one find info for figuring out how to pick what kind of tool path to use for the different kind of parts and features that one has to do. i can kinda of understand if it all comes down to exp but how do you get there in the first place.
  4. i really need a little help please.trying to do a curved pocket in a part, thought i had it sat but the outline of the pocket went oversize.went back this morning and added cutter comp and now it wont finish the pocket outline. im using msurf,it looked about the best choice.im using cut pattern surfaces/tool axis control pattern surface/cut surfaces started with cut pattern but now trying to use comp to surfaces. getting a little lost in this. 5-axis

well after 3 days we have pinned it down to errors in the a/c axis, was working on a part with .002 true pos and i finally hit it late tonight off by .000040.we ended up using 2 work offsets one for with the part @ a0. and another with it @ a-90..i know this isnt right but it worked for now or until mazak tech shows up next week. on another note has anybody had prob's with the tool setting probe,im having to adj the tools -.0033 after setting them. on droping the pallets we havent had that prob but i would say it can be a prob with chips building up.

    5-axis

im refering to the offsets to the center of rotation & distance from center of A to the pallet versus the nomenclature plates on the side of the machine.we have a difference, just got through running a probe prog to find the center of rotation for X&Y.then to find the center of rotation for A & distance from pallet to center of rotation. then we ran a macro provideed from japan that uses the #'s from the probe to caculate the centers of everything and we found a difference of rotation when A is @ 0. & when A is @ -90..i now believe we are going to have the parameters changed. as for g61.1 we are using that but we dont have g54.2 dynamic comp, maybe later. thanks for your time.
