  1. I was mistaken. The tool grade does stick when I create the tool in 2017. But when I edit a tool that was created in X9 and put in the tool grade, it doesn't stick. If yours works JParis, what am I doing wrong?
  2. The Tool Grade doesn't stick either. Even if you create the tool in 2017. Ugh
  3. Now, I know that 2017 finally has the option to add a manufacturer name that isn't in their playlist, but when I open and edit a tool in 2017 that I have made in X9, the manufacturer's name is gone. Even when I re-input the name, save, go out of tool manager and come back in, it's not there. It doesn't "stick". But if I create the tool again in 2017, then its all good. Sigh!!! Can this be fixed? If not, all the 1000's of tools I've made will have no more manufacturer name. Anyone else have this problem?
  4. That's good info Rekd. I recall reading that some time ago for myself to draw a custom lathe tool. It worked fine for me, as long as you play by their rules.
  5. JoshC, Thanks for your input, but I'm aware of your suggestions. I just wanted to let everyone and Mastercam know that this is an issue that still needs to be resolved. David, it is not fixed. The defect you state is exactly what is still happening to us at my work.
  6. Thanks Gcode. I went to your link and seen I am not the only one with this issue. And yes, doesn't seem to be any fix.
  7. I have now switched over to 2017 from V9. In the last 5 days have had 4 crashes. One when I was simply opening up a file. 4 when I was altering or making a tool in Mastercam's tool manager. Not the stand alone. I've also have problems with making tools. Screen gets garbled up after a couple of tools I make. Happened in V9 as well. Happens on all 3 computers at my work. Without going into great detail, I'll just say that I have a very high end computer and this still happens. I'm thinking that is must be a Mastercam problem. Anyone else have this issue?
  8. I have part files that are several steps deep, so the part name at the top of the ribbon bar gets cut off now in 2017. If I am un-aware or come back to this file at a later date, I want to view and know the final destination folder. WTF.
  9. I've often used the "save tool geometry" function when back plotting in the past. Now, with 2017, it is stranding all sorts of lines to the world coordinate origin. WTF. 3 different computers at work and all do the same. Anyone else out there?
  10. Why can't Mastercam make a 2D chamfer path with anything other than a 45 degree cutter

  11. I know, back in the 80's, there used to be courses for "post training". My mentor went, I think he said Toronto, to take the course. He still works with us and has the original book, (and I mean thick book). I think that I am very good at macro programming, but when I seen the logic in the posts,. ..... Holy crap. I've been successful in changing some basic stuff in the posts. There may be some books still available for purchase.
  12. Good question, Newbee. Daniel - I was under the assumption that you had to program with Mazatrol on the machine. Is MatrixCAM the only software Mazatrol supports for a programming package out there for PC's?Cam
  13. Thanks everone for the replies. CrazyMillman-yes, both my Integrexes are series I with Y axis. Jack- Yes, I will try to keep you informed. Doug-You obviously have the luxury of having the best of all worlds with having a few software packages at your dispossal. I do not. But I really appreciated your input. My question to you now is, why wouldn't you just use Esprit for all the kinds of jobs regardless of the complexity? Why do the less complex jobs go to a different software package? Could it be because of programming efficiency?
  14. Thanks for your replies. And I agree, if in doubt, ask. Otherwise its my a$$ on the line.
  15. I have been given the task from the boss of deciding which kind of programming software is the best for company. We have been using Mastercam for 20 years now, but recently have purchased a couple of Mazak Integrex's 5-axis turn/mill machines. I been looking at Mastercam with their new MT software coming out in early 2013 and Esprit. Or should I just use the Mazatrol? Any thoughts?
  16. Hey all you smart guys out there! I have always believed that when a defined thread on any given drawing omits the pitch, it defaults to coarse. Am I wrong to assume this?
