I was un-installing old versions. I see 9.1 and all that but I also see MCAMVB and MR0904 that are at least 2G each. Are these old versions or part of X2?
Is it possible to automatically post to two locations?
I want to output my nc file to a floppy for the machine operator, but I also want to save a copy to the network (or another drive location)
I do alot of bolt circle toolpaths. Can I have the sorting method default to the one I use most often? Complete with start angle different than 0°?
How about certain tools. Can I have a certain one load every time?
I just have one machine and machine definition.
I have received some valuable tips that I will use.
But my original question was:
Isn't there a keystroke or button I can hit for "last". (meaning to do something relative to my last position that geometry was placed)
Apparently, the answer is "no".
I did create a key map for "all results" instead of the icon and then tried "all results" at that point but that just selects the last geometry created, not the point at which it was placed.
Besides, that was your post #666. Like
I'm gonna take that advice...
Tapping the alt key only goes so far.
alt
"c"reate
"a"rc
"c"ircle center point
from there if I hit "r" I'm changing my radius.
No way to choose position with the keystrokes.
Can I create a key map for "relative to last position"?
Transforming works better when each move is uniform.
But your solution does have merit only because I have a custom key map for translate.
Again, my original question was what is the keystroke (or button) for "last"?
A simple question.
I want to create a series of arcs (or whatever) at positions relative to each other.
I place one and then want to create another at a position say 4" over.
I could select "relative" and then select the center of the previous arc and input my numbers but arcs are small and I may need to zoom in for the auto-cursor to pick the right point, etc.
Isn't there a keystroke or button I can hit for "last". Like in my toolpaths I can elect to redrill the "last" bolt circle.
I must admit that I miss the 9.0 days when I could use all keystrokes to
"c"reate
"a"rc
"d"iameter
"3"
"r"elative
"l"ast
"r"ectangular
enter my number then enter.
I hate having to grab the mouse and select points. Is there a solution?
Very nice indeed. That simplifies an otherwise unwieldy task.
I took the time to find a half dozen other stencil fonts, too.
Don't know why I never did that before.

That is a nice tip that I didn't know was there, either. I loaded an often used tool and set it to use its defaults. The values stay there but the tool does not. Can I also have that tool load by default?
I posed a similar question awhile back but just the opposite. When I go to open a file, it defaults to files of type .Mcx but I WANT it to default to all files.
Can I do that?
X2 SP1
Since I didn't uninstall the old version first because:
a: I'm paranoid-- because it was working
b: Others in this forum advised to install side by side
So what are my options at this point? I guess what it confusing is that all of my customization that was done over the last year or two is in so many different places.
Library files are part of the config,
keyboard shortcuts are part of either the .mtb??? or config files.
even my screen view is different-it took me awhile to figure that out.
And where are my custom toolbars? Do I need to recreate those?
I want to keep current but it is a pain.
Am I whining? Maybe. I'm just sharing my experiences.
There doesn't seem to be a consensus here about how to go about these updates.
I am trying to go from X2 SP1 to X2 MR2.
How to I get all of my settings to the new version?
machine definition
kayboard shortcuts
tool library
screen layout
custom toolbars etc.
I've never been happy with a single update with Mastercam. It never seems to be intuitive or complete.
We are creating eccentric reducers and cones for a customer but first I need to create the part as a flat layout to be cut (plasma) before we can drill.
I don't work with surfaces much so I need help creating geometry I can work with.
I seem to be able to create my surface and flatten it. Now I need to export as .dxf or dwg so I can import it with my nesting software for the burn table before it comes back to be milled.
What suggestions do you have for me to do that? Seems like I need to convert the surface to some 2 dimensional geometry my other CAD program (Sigmanest) can understand.
This was a problem I also had. It took me a year to figure out that for any comment to post it had to also contain a letter or other symbol other than a number.
I finally had our re-seller change my post to accept numbers only.
He had a reason why it was like that. I expessed my dis-pleasure so he fixed it for me.
When I "merge" .dxf files, X2 always wants to default and look for a Mastercam *.mcx file.
So then you gotta scroll down and select the proper type before it will display the CAD drawings in my folder.
Can I get it to default to files of type-All *.* ?
Jeff has a copy of a recent post as he is working on other requests.
I thought it was me or supposed to be that way all this time.
If you hadn't figured it out, perseid88 is Phil from Delta Steel.
I have an interesting problem with the comments.
Unless I put a letter (any letter) in with the comments, it will not show in the post.
Once I add my letter, then any numbers I added also show.
comment example:
input output
12345... nada
1234A... 1234A
ABCD... ABCD
Numbers only will not show. Seriously. I'm not sure how I remember figuring this out one day, but that is my trick.
It has been like that from M8-M9-MX. Must be in my post somewhere.
