  1. Thanks Tony, I recreated surface extensions and it did the trick. I do not see direction options on the surface perameter pages. Where do I find it?
  2. I am attempting to cut a surface under a ledge using a modified T Slot cutter. I am using Surface parallel and it seems to be working fine, However I cannot seem to use an arc to sweep the cutter in or out to start and exit, to avoid crashing thru the overhanging ledge. Any ideas are greatly appreciated Thanks to all
  3. Thanks Rick, WCS is set to top tooling and construction planes were set accordingly. The problem was while it would accept the new planes the work offset number would default to -1 ( a number forced to try to prevent a crash) and because it is an illegal number, the post would not assign a WCS G54.1 P# offset at all. (At the time we thought it would produce an error message). In parameter page we changed the WCS number as required and it now posts fine. A rather dumb oversight, but then most of them are. Again Thanks
  4. When programming a three axis vertical mill and posting, our WSC is posted as G54 thru G59as needed. When programming for four axis horizontal mill we revert to the WCS output as G54.1 P1 Thru P?. This servers our purpose as more offsets are needed on the horizontal due to muti-faced tombstones and pallets. If a part is programmed originally for a vertical machine and later decided to be put on the horizontal we will copy the original geometry and export tool paths to a new location. After wards we relocate the geometry, import the original tool paths, edit the tool planes in the parameter pages load a new post processor and post. The problem is the new WCS is never called in the resulting program. The new program will use the old WCS on the first tool and new WCS will not be called on any tool changes. The old programs tool paths must be re-programmed to produce a valid WCS output. Does anyone know of away around this problem, or of what I am doing wrong. Thanks in advance for any help.
  5. In windows right click, start, left click search, in all or part of file name enter " *.mcx" or "*.mc9" depending what version you used to create the file.
  6. A few days ago a new problem developed. After programming and creating a set up sheet the tool page and operations page print fine, however when I try to print the routing sheet the text and work piece disappear on screen. I have noticed the inch scale bottom right of the graphics display indicates a scale of 1/ 1000000000. I am fairly sure it is a scaling problem. Anybody had this problem. Thanks
  7. Thanks Crazy^Millman, will take your advice and keep you informed.
  8. Gentlemen, Is anyone aware of a way to set a maximum machining envelope, that would generate an error code when exceeded, either in the machine definition manager or the control definition manager. We occasionally run a cutting tool onto the sensor probe. It is not normally a pretty sight. Thanks . Larry Metzler Motorola MasterCam X2MR2 Level 3 Mill Mill
  9. Brett, Many thanks, it worked like a charm, Wife and Kids are from your neck of the woods,(Toronto).Stay warm.Again thanks
  10. I am a first time forum user, and I hope my request is not out of line. We have recently purchased a new Kitimura HX300 iF horizontal machining center. We have never used either a 4th axis machine, nor a pallet changer. I am attempting to modify a generic post for the same machine and would like to request a favor. I have written a simple program to contour a 2.00in square block 1.00 thick with .125 radii on the corners. using a .250 flat mill I have center drilled, drilled and tapped 4- 8x32 holes thru the corners on 1.25 centers, indexed the “B” axis at 0, 90, 180 and 270 degrees and called for a pallet change. I would ask anyone who may be able to help, if they could write the same program, for the same machine, and let me have a copy of the G Code output “ONLY”, I could use this as a comparison for my output. Thank you. MCX Mill3 Larry Metzler CAD CAM & CNC Programming Motorola Inc Plantation Florida [email protected]
