By the end of today i realize i had a miss understanding of 3+2 auto. Thought i would be able to grab all 5 sides and bring them in from my stock.
-
I keep defaulting to this way of squaring up, but I'd like to cut it out. I think I can do all this with one path but unsure. if someone has the time or even a sample file that would help me with this that would be great. Thanks for time and assistance ahead of time
sorry for bad labels not all paths are facing rt side

In there you will want to edit the initial value of the Z axis.
Thanks never played in there before. From what I see when I change initial z value it repositions my spindle head (z axis). I'm going to keep digging.

love it, know I'm able to see changes when I adjust safety zone settings

In your chaining manager for that tool path (geometry) right click on the chain you would like to edit, and you will find the start point option.

Little nevous going in and messing with all these settings being that iv just steered clear of this area of mastercam. Im going to dive in tho. I think before i change any settings id like to play and see what does what first. After running this part today i noticed a couple thing that are making the picture more clear. With the 3 faces its good practice for me. For example i have 4 .25 sf pin holes, 2 on the rt side 2 on lft. So when i tied all 4 holes together when chaining (control shift select id love it) and applying saftey zone my A will use a positive and minus, full 180 swing. But if i use my planes and set lft n rt (or even fnt n bk) my A axis will stay -90 (tables facing me) and rotate my C to the face i am working on. Great day over all. With our powers combined we can get thru this. Thanks again from the 5 axis rookie.

Ow my 3 axis brain hurts, this is quite the adventure. Thanks for all the info I love knowing where to go and get help thanks everyone.

The machine post will decide the side this will end up on (A90 or A-90)
All right great. I'll play with that info in the am thanks. I have noticed that, during machine sim. My trunion (A) will rotate 180 to get front to back but at the machine A will stay -90 while C gets me front to back.

I'd like to come over the top like this still. I have a monster vice in the way not shone in image

This guy provides models with his step thru videos. They definitely get you off to the races any who.

#1 need a sample file to really understand what you are asking.
Sorry about that sir. I'm away from the shop rt now so I'm unable to supply a file. Let me try to be clearer. I know when verifying I can remove a chip or keep a chip from the verification (scrap pc that gets cut off verses cut out and turned into chips). In my picture I've got a tube on an arbor that needs to be cut in half. I have 2 clamps on top holding the part so a can cut thru without flying shrapnel then unclamp and remove scrape pc from fixture and continue with part. I would like to remove that scrap pc from my stock model.
Maybe this helps if not thanks for the response anyways

Well none of use are standing where you're standing and trying to wrap my brain around the setup of the 5th Axis on the machine. Is the 5th Axis at A0 C0 up facing Z+ or is it Down Facing X-? The post is written to support the machine's zero position at home. You want to make that different then you have to make the planes and method support what you're thinking. You will have to have a base WCS from the correct place and then yes you can have a T-C Plane with a different rotation and set Zero from there, but something has to tell the Post what is the base Position to reference from without it then everything becomes 0,0,0. If the base plane is 90 degrees from what the machine can do then the post will make a 5 Axis move, but not be where you expected, because the planes are not set yo support the method you are thinking you want.

The more i read these post i think im starting to understand. Time will tell, ill play more in the morning. I just wanted to work off the center of the cylinder but i didnt want to set my offset from the top view. Thanks a bunch

I think this will work, but I have never done it in anger.
It seems to work but not sure if its necessary. Looks like i need to call rotation seperatly.

CALL OO88 does not update the rotary axis positions only the XYZ is updated with this MACRO
Ive just recently dicovered this ( 5 axis newbe with a very cool machine) is there a way to update rotary axis?

Well that then means to post is doing what is suppose to be doing and the machine is mapping the code correctly.
Im wondering if i should be able to leave my offset at A-90 At the machine. And configure my planes correctly at mastercam. I was having difficulty doing so. That led me to learning a little about call oo88 to move my cords to A zero.

Thanks again for starters, for hanging in there with me. My program works, but only after i tranfer my offset to A 0.0 (from A -90. were i picked up x y and z) at the machine using call oo88.

Thanks for the compliment. When zig zag got added ( or i noticed) in 2020-21 ish it was a game changer for me . Turn on multi pass and keep tool down with or with out a fin pass (depending on what your trying). I used to make a rectangle just under my cutter diameter, over my centerline so i could utilize facing toolpaths onepass , keep tool down.
