xxxx just figured it out....if you change anything in the tool alone it does change anything in the assembled tool, you have to change it in both places.....
Can you tell me why in the tool manager app, I have my 2” face mill set to SFM 3280 and FPT to .012, why when I select that assembly in Mastercam, does the SFM and the FPT not match? but when I select the tool, not as an assembly it matches? i cannot figure that out...
Well, being who we are, we deal primarily with Aluminum, the tool library we have set up, except for 2 tools, are aluminum cutting tools. The library is evolving, and we are trying to get to the point where we have a good mix of aluminum, steel & stainless tools, but for now I am really on concentrating on aluminum cutting tools. We are trying to streamline the setup process for the guys on the floor and If I can program a part using as many of the tools that are already setup in the machine, the quicker the setup can go.
looking for your input/opinion on dialing in your tool library feeds and speeds using the tool manager app.
what has worked best for you?
do you plug in numbers based on tool manufactures recommendations, or by the type of material your using, or some other way?
here is my situation.
I have a tool library that matches every mill on the floor, yes, every mill has the same first 20 tools in the machine.
When programming I would like to be able to select those tools and not have to adjust the feeds & speeds every time, obviously they would need to be adjusted occasionally for certain situations, but for the most part I do not want to be having to change them all the time.
any help/info would be appreciated.
Thank you for all the great input, I ended creating a straight line adding points along that line and then transforming the points on that line as needed.
the c-hook option looks like it would have done the job as well.
Thanks again all
I can see the "grid" on the screen, I am trying to create a grid of points, like if I wanted to drill and tap a grid pattern, need the point geometry....
I need advice, I am really getting frustrated or not getting the whole tool library thing for lathe. I have built and maintained libraries for or VMC, UMC, & HRZ machines with seemingly great ease, why does it seem to be so difficult in lathe!!
Can anyone offer advise or the actual steps, or point me in the direction on any info to begin creating a library of inserts, holder, live tools (axial and radial)
any and all help will be greatly appreciated
Is this a post issue or is there a setting I am missing? maybe a misc. integer?
This is what I get when I post the whole program...

Is the Tool manager program (not inside mastercam) basically setup for mill tools only?
When I open the stand alone tool manager program to create new or edit a tool database, I only see mill tools, holder, etc. nothing related to lathe tools.
Anyone have experience creating or importing lathe tool holders into the tool manager for verification purposes?
I am trying to create static and or axial & radial live tool holders, etc. for use in Vericut verification software.
I have been able to do this successfully with all of our milling machines, but can seem to get the lathe holders.
Colin - you seem to have a lot of knowledge on the subject of in-process on the machine inspection probing using mastercam. This is something our shop does using PC-DMIS currently and I am trying to get the probing programming of the CNC machines moved into the programming dept. instead of being done by the quality dept. I am interested in training and configuration of the software to get this done.
What do you offer as far as training and configuration?
Thank you,
Tim
Is there a way to turn of the stock models from all my operations, so that when I open the mastercam part file each time, all the stock models are displayed?
After I open the part file I have to go thru each stock model and toggle the switch to display each one and turn them off.
Anyone else have problems trying to run the 2018 demo version that is available here to download work with Window 10? I have tried downloading it and it installs fine, but does not launch past the 2018 logo, and then just does nothing?
trying to copy surfaces, solids work, surfaces seem to be there but not visible, idk if that makes sense, but after the copy, only the wire frame is visible. If I use the ALT-S you can see the wire frame of the surfaces but its not shaded...
