  1. K Chuck, followed directions, when advanced config window opens it says classic backplot & next coloumn says enable,so its enabled right? I still cant get backplot to do anything.Which icon should i be using the 1st 2nd or 3rd? & once i choose proper icon which choices do i want to shade to see my toolpath shaded?
  2. Using X8,another post had mentioned classic backplot, dont know what/where it is.Im using the icons at top of toolbar to try backplotting as I always have (in X4) 1st icon is Backplot selected operations 2nd one is Verify selected operations 3rd one is Backplot/Verify options. So that doesnt work anymore in X8?
  3. I set my origin on my 2D graphics which are usually rectangular by using XFORM ,move to origin,& the intersection icon,I choose the top & left lines which puts my origin upper left corner. My version 8 moves the origin there but adds another line at about 30 degrees going thru the part.Is this something new for version 8 or do I have something configured wrong?
  4. On my version 4 when I used backplot I had a shaded area the same width as my tool that showed the toolpath around the part that I was contouring. I cant get anything at all out of my version 8.Is this something thats changed on version 8,or is there something Im not doing right?
  5. Right clicking on tool & Re-initialize s&f works,Thanx
  6. Wheres Classic backplot? Wheres new backplot? I cant find those.I have 3 options #1=Backplot selected operations,#2=Verify selected operations,#3=Backplot/Verify options. And no,when I backplot a seperate graphics window doesnt appear. All I can get out of it is a tool that shows up way above my graphics & doesnt move. And when I backplot a drill cycle it only shows the 1st hole not all of them like version 4 used to do.
  7. Im choosing tools from my tool library that I set up.When they appear in my operations the S&F arent whats in them, furthermore when I right click to edit them, make the edits under Finalize Properties, they still dont show properly in my Operations.Am I doing something wrong or is something not downloaded properly?
  8. Lets start at the beginning...when I want to verify my toolpath which verify icon should I use out of the 3 choices? The 1st one,the 2nd one or the 3rd one? I generally have been using the 1st one. Then which choices should I have hilited in the Backplot window? The only one I have hilited is Quick Verify. I tried using each one individually & i get lots of geometry that wont clean up off of my original geometry when i get out of Backplot.
  9. Changed the Backplot setting to verify color as mentioned, when I open Backplot (using the 1st icon) the only one I have hilited is Quick Verify, nothing shows, what am I doing wrong?
  10. Im choosing tools from a library that I created,I figured out how to renumber the tool but when it shows up on parameters page the head number is different,is this new to 8 or am I doing it wrong?
  11. 2nd to last in top row is a backward 3 inside a square,my question is;when ive called up Settings then call up Config then go to colors what do I want to select in the drop down list to change?
  12. I just loaded MCAMX-8 & when I do a Backplot Im used to seeing a colored toolpath the same width as my selected tool.Im not seeing anything except a fine line of my rough & finish passes. What do I have to choose under Settings/Color to change the color of that particular option? My background is dark blue so it must be set the same & thats why I cant see it?
  13. I called up a 2d file that I want to delete everything around it & only keep what i have inside the window,on version4 I could choose up top to delete Inside or Outside the window.Wheres that option now?
  14. Got it to work,I needed to choose Gradient backgrond direction.
  15. Dunno John, thats all handled by the IT guys.Im following directions to change screen color but not working? Picking Settings,Config,Colors,Graphics background color, picking dark blue, hitting the + sign & nothings happening,do you have to restart computer to see change?
  16. Just got Mastercam 8 installed, the background color of screen is light gray,Im used to having it dark blue, how do I change it? Im used to Mastercam X4,whats the major differences I'll be seeing?
  17. Sad the company I work for wont spend the money to upgrade so I can get Mastercam back.I think the IT guy said Mastercam would upgrade for $2000.Theyd rather toss 15 yrs of programs out the window.I haven't done anything since last Friday at noon.So they've already lost $2000 worth of production far as I figure. So theyre going to set me up with Camworks & Ill have to do everything from scratch. My experience with comparing Mastercam to Camworks is like I had a brand new Cadillac with all the options & now theyre giving me a 1982 Ford Tempo with a cracked windshield & a passenger door that wont open.
  18. Cant call,no support, been working unsupported since 2010,my key that plugs into my pc is purple.Do these things fail? Our IT guy contacted Mastercam (which has been bought out?) & he says the key is no good that it isn't working. Im using XCAM4. IT guy says he cant find proper driver to get it to work? Because the driver used now is different & he doesn't know which one to use.
  19. Got BIG problems & need help.Ive been using Mastercam since 2010 with no support. Now when I go to open up Mastercam it says I cant because no SIM found.(Whats SIM mean?) From what I understand the SIM is the key that's plugged into the back of my computer? So what would make my computer not be able to read it? Or am I way off & this isn't the problem?
  20. At the beginning of my Post Processor is Cantext value: 1 = Stop = output the "MOO" stop code 2 = Opstop = output the "MO1" optional stop code. All my posts come out with a "MO1" at the end of every tool.I want to be able to post getting a "MOO" where desired. So my question is where do the numbers 1 or 2 apply? Do I need to edit something in my post to have that option? Or do those numbers have to be entered in the canned text portion of a tools operation? Im using MCAMX4.
  21. At the beginning of my Post Processor is Canned Text: enable/disable 1 = Stop = output the 'MOO" stop code 2 = Opstop = output the "MO1".So Ive got to put a 1 someplace or edit this Post Processor to get an MOO to post at the end of desired Operations.Where do I modify it to work?
  22. Well our IT guy understands all this computer lingo better than me & its his job to keep everybodys computer running efficiently,so I guess Im lucky to have him around.
  23. Im using a modified generic HAAS post.I have found at the beginning of the Post Processor is Canned Text:enable/disable 1=Stop = output the "MOO" stop code 2 =Opstop = output the "MO1" so that's gotta be what I need to alter to get an MOO to post at the end of an Operation. But I cant figure out what to do with that information because when I open misc values in an Operation there is nothing in the windows. So how does this all fit together?
  24. I don't want MOO's at the end of every Operation, only where I want them to be.So how do I use Manual Entry in an Operation?
  25. I usually use manual entry to write notes to myself at the beginning of a program when theres important things to know before I start running a repeat job.I right click in the white, choose mill toolpaths then manual entry. How do I use manual entry in a particular Operation?
