  1. I read some of the past posts on this subject & cant get it to work.Im using the canned text method described as;open the operation, tool parameter page, canned text. When I first opened canned text there were no options in the left window,I managed to get MOO in there. Now I can get an MOO in the operation but it wont post at the end of the operation. If I tell it after, the MOO comes out after my M08,If I tell it before it comes out before the tool change,If I tell it with,it doesn't come out at all. What am I doing wrong?
  2. Well heres what happens when I use Screen clear colors. My geometry turns kinda white or yellow.I can go in & change the entities I want to whichever color I want. Then I save it.But when I go back to reset my origin using the intersection icon everything goes back to the original purple it started out as.So the colors don't stay.I reset the origin so it goes back to purple so I can pick things.
  3. Anyone have any ideas why I cant change the colors of any entities of my 2d files? Im following the directions in the help pages & it doesn't work.Mastercam X4.
  4. Want to thank everyone that chimed in & had something to say.I gathered enough information to relate to my IT guy, to explain what I was trying to do.He found the post & modified it so it does what I want it to.Now I can post G98's without having to edit them manually. It was everybodys comments that helped get it done.-THANX-
  5. Yep,I saw John mentioned that, but that's way over my abilities & understanding. Is it something I can do with minimal knowledge? If so,how do I go about it?
  6. Allan been there done that,it doesn't work.Trying to figure out what I gotta do to get it to work.
  7. When I try to lookup my posts,Im opening Files in my toolpath manager, clicking on edit in machine section, the only post in Post-processor is my MPHAAS_rev4.PST.Shouldnt I be able to find the generic HAAS post in there as well? How do I open my post to see whats in it? I cant figure that one out.
  8. Yep,the check box next to clearance is checked, its the one underneath it I have unchecked, the use clearance only at start & end of operation.
  9. When I want to post a G98,No,I have it unchecked, its my understanding that's whats supposed to make the difference but it doesn't.So Im thinking in the post I use we must have missed what makes it do that.
  10. Im using a post that was made for the HAAS machine. Its the only one I can find.If I could find the HAAS generic post I could compare the 2 to see whats different.Do you know where I could find the HAAS generic post? And do you know how to use file compare to find the difference?
  11. All my drilling cycles post a G99.Theres times when I want a G98 instead. How do I get it to post a G98 drilling cycle? Im using MCAM X4.
  12. I have a post I use for my HAAS VF 0E.When I uncheck the Use clearance only at the start & end of operation Im told the post should put out a G98 instead of a G99.It doesn't do it.What do I need to edit in the post & how do I do it? I haven't done any post edits in many years so Im going in blind. So 1st off I need to know how to callup where the post is because I haven't done it in so long. Im using Mastercam X4.
  13. I think I found some more recent notes; To Pick Tools from Big_Inch.Tools & use filter to show specific types of tools: have all the tool types UN hilited? I call up the library & don't see where I can unhilite the tool types or even where they are.
  14. My internets turned off but they allow me to access this forum, when I try to open the attachment it says access denied.I thought those notes might be from a previous version & that's why they make no sense. Most of the stuff I do is pretty similar so Ive been using a Tool Library that I created that has everything in it that I use daily. And now Im trying to add the corner rounding endmill but cant find it.
  15. they turned off my internet access so I cant open that attachment,i have some notes that don't make sense to me,I have go to NC Utilities,Define Tools,Library.Pretty bad when my own notes don't make sense to me.
  16. Im makin sumpthin for my car & cant for the life of me remember where to find different types of endmills to pick one & add it to my library.I used to be able to call up a page that had all the types of endmills listed so you could choose the desired type.Im using a 3/32 corner rounding endmill.
  17. Cant open any attachments cuzza the way they got my PC setup. What I found was the 1-1/4 Facemill was too big dia.It came in & did a small area all the way to depth & then moved over slightly & did the same thing, instead of doing everything at a depth then moving to next depth. Put a 5/8 endmill in & it all worked out.So what Im guessing is the dia of the tool was too big to finish around my islands & that caused it?
  18. ok guess it isn't what I thought it was, thanx for replys
  19. Im maching a fixture plate that has bosses sticking up out of it.I want to start my tool off of the part, plunge to depth & walk into the part.Im using Island Facing & added a point to my geometry & dragged it to the top of my Chain Manager.Ive got use entry point checked in my lead/in out. It wont go to that point to start, its picking its own place to start on the edge of the part. What am I missing? If I delete all my islands it works, but soon as I add the island geometry it ignores the start point & goes where it wants.
  20. Well, thats another thing I haven't tried,Ive been milling across the top of them as they would sit secured to the vise.Sounds like another thing to try is hold them vertically on parallels & mill them from the side not the top. That way I could find an endmill with good cutting flutes & maybe chewed up on the corners & use it.Thanx for all the suggestions.
  21. Ive never used the Batch option but from what I read about it,it seems like its something I could use since a lot of my jobs are similar.Face,Contour,Drill,Tap,Pocket. Is this the Batch options benefit? To batch together similar jobs? And how do you use it? Im using Mastercam X4.
  22. OK sounds like Ive been trying to go too fast & use coolant.I haven't done it in awhile but far as I can remember I was using 1-1/4 dia facemill with 2 inserts running about 3800RPM & a FR of 10. So when I get the chance to try it again I'll slow the RPM to 2000 & try a FR of 5. (5 inches per minute). And if it still shoots sparks Ill figure Im still going too fast,so I'll try slowing it down. Thanx
  23. I have carbide inserts & I cant even take a .005 cut with them, all they do is shoot sparks even with coolant on & they dull quickly.
  24. The standard height of hard jaws for my Kurt vise is 1.750.They workout better for me if I can remove some material off of them to about 1.730.We don't have a surface grinder here to do it properly. Anyone got any tricks up their sleeve for how to machine them down using something else? I have a couple of face mills with inserts I could use if I knew what inserts would cut those hardened jaws. Im thinkin maybe ceramic or diamond?
  25. Youre the only help I have since I don't have support anymore.Again Many Many Thanks-Bill-
