  1. Christian: Thank you, again. Now I have a better grasp of these tolerances and can do some more modification to my PST. Are the new PDF's with the MR0304 cd? or accessible where?
  2. Thank you Using "arccheck = 211" certainly seems to reduced my code. Have made a few other "minor" adjustments as well. How much changing can I do to the LTOL variable before my accuracy goes in the toilet?
  3. Steve, I cut 2D contours and 3d contours with wireframe, as well as surface machining. Christian, I will do some modification to the pst and try that and will have to check on the control for helix.
  4. I'm trying to tweak my post for the smoothest arc output. I'm getting line/arc combinations in areas that should be arc moves. breakarcs = 1 arcoutput = 0 arctype = 2 do_full_arc = 0 (should be 1?) helix_arc = 1 arccheck = 1 (should be 2?) atol = .01 ltol = .002 vtol = .0001 What am I missing? Any help would be apprectiated, and many thanks in advance.
  5. Thank you guys. The reason I was Having such major probs was I wasn't cutting the h-11 in the same machine as the H-13. It came open and all probs have went away. Thanks for being so specific mold 100. THIS FORUM IS AWESOME!!!!
  6. Does anyone have any good experience milling h-11 40Rc. I have been milling 50Rc h-13 for months with no problems, but this h-11 is a real I am running the h-13 cutters at the same rpm's and half the feedrate and not having much luck. Come out and speak up experts. Thanks in advance for any help When in doubt just close your eyes and do it anyway.
  7. Cutting with just air? I say NAY! Try oil mist coolant. It smokes a little, but really helps insert life in about any steel. Never get to cut anything soft like aluminum or brass Usually very hard tool steel 50HRC+. You can even just use straight saffron oil. not quite as good, but lots cheaper. Oil has no coolant properties, but adds lubricity.
  8. high speed drill will work for a very short time unless it is a cobalt drill. If you want to see an impressive face mill for fx t2 look at a iscar feedmill 3" dia 450 rpm .07 DOC 80 IPM. Just be careful it is a torque/horsepower hog. I have stalled our spindle and wadded a cutter up. as for feeds and sppeds on a drill it depends on the diameter. I would also go carbide on the drill if it is something you are going do be doing very much. It will last much longer and get better feedrate. My family and I have been working with finkl die steel for a combined total of like eighty years (three of us) and search for A finkl and sons.
  9. My problem is gone! That will teach me to NOT push all the buttons and click all the boxes. Next time, if there is an option to try, I'm trying it! Thanks for the help. I was missing a tolerance parameter in the restmill and "manually" filtering my toolpath. By using the built-in filter (duh) the problem was solved.
  10. I didn't edit this time, thinking that was the problem previously. I did filter, though. Your time and patience is much appreciated.
  11. No luck with a search. Luck, unlike the Force, is with me.
  12. I'm having a problem with locked Shallow and Restmill toolpaths. When I file/get a job with locked toolpaths, I lose the actual paths. Nearly everytime with Shallow and somewhat haphazardly with Restmill toolpaths. I have to do a full toolpath regenerate before I can post. Am I just lucky here, or what?
  13. Thanks for the welcome, and the help. Was able to view the CAD part of the file using Voloview and had new .igs files sent for surfaces. It worked out, finally. Thanks again.
  14. If we really want to do something about piracy, start contacting congressmen and let them know we are sick and tired of work from N.America being sent overseas for "cheaper" production costs. Shipped overseas, btw, to a place where you can buy MC for $10 because our copyright laws mean doodle outside our borders. And if encrpytion of posts is the answer, just remember...they crack what they need. If they need a post, they'll crack it. But, hey, what do congressmen care. I want a job where I can set my own wages and retirement and benefit packages....as long as I get rich, why should I care about anyone else. Or future generations...right?
  15. Thanks for the help, but.... I do have Design Tracker 5.0 installed but have no luck with it, either. Could it be a customer setting in their .idt creation? I only found "paper spaces" in .dxf/.dwg conversion. Am I missing a setting somewhere? After the nearly instantaneous conversion process, I'm told there are no entities. Unblanking shows no entities. Is there a way I can get a .log file of the conversion process? Thanks again. [ 05-23-2003, 07:40 AM: Message edited by: Platinum ]
  16. Autodesk inventor drawing, I believe. I also get .idt files, with no conversion luck. No geometry, nada, zip, zilcho, goose-egg.......
  17. I am trying to convert customer supplied .idw (and .ipt) files. Emphasis on "trying". As of this post, I get no error msg (good thing), but no entities, either (bad thing). Am I missing something? I am using MC v9.1 (mill) with latest .dlls [ 05-22-2003, 11:13 AM: Message edited by: Platinum ]
