  1. I'm looking at getting a HP ZD8000 laptop, does anybody have one of these using version X. I was wondering on graphics with the ATI that come in them. What other laptops have people had error free performance w/ using X. I kinda wanted the pentium M chip, not the HT- due to heat reasons.

  2. What do you guys prefer for cutting fluid on aluminum? I am using valenite VNT-700 but had a Master chemical rep come out and says that Valenites stuff will wear out my machines. They said I should use Trim E-206. Thought I would ask people not trying to sell me something.

  3. I accidently unplugged the hard drive yesterday whhile installing a new graphics card and not my white hasp doesn't work. CNC said it may be the port on the computer, because the sim work on another computer. It doesnt seem that the port would go bad.

  4. I am having a problem setting up my Haas VF-4 for communications. It is a 1998 model. I am using cimco editor that comes with mastercam. If anyone could please send me a screenshot of the settings used in cimco it would save me a lot of guess work. also if you could provide the settings for the machine. I don't know if I should use Xon/Xoff, DC modem, ect.

  5. I also talked to an owner of a company saying triple tool life. Even works on brake rotors. I called robb jack and they said on low quality carbide it should help a lot, but theirs is so high quality, that when they tested it, it didn't shows signs of improvment. They said it would be a waste of money for their tooling.

  6. I once tried doing intricate engraving and accidently had compensation on when I generated the path and could not get compensation to turn off even though I had it unselected. I ended up rechaining my geometry and it worked fine.

  7. One file for the whole part. Assign diff. WCS for each side. You can even orient the part in the machine for example 90 degrees and rotate the toolpath 90 degrees. I find it easier though if rotating a part, to copy all geometry to another location and assigning it a new WCS. That way you can see everything at once.
