Thanks Hardmill. I've been doing that, but I need some foundational instruction, to get me to the questions that should be asked of the forumn. Here's an example. How the hell do you use CPlanes, Gviews, Tplanes, and the WCS? Where do I start and what is the best way to aproach this? I have been told by several people not to use the WCS???? I don't know jack yet, but it looks like to me that this is the tool that should be used to manage all of these. And yes I have done the tutorial from the ftp site that you wrote and it was a great help, but it assumes that I understand C&TPlanes and Gviews. I don't have any experience with MC or really with any other CAM software.

Thanks for the links, now how about a dirrect recommendation of a particular title for getting up to speed on MC Mill level 1 w/ solids. Honestly if the resources section ot emastercam published the tutorial that ships with MasterCAM I'm not real interested, because that tutorial that came twith the disc blows. Just my opinion.....

Has anyone here read "Learning Mastercam Mill Step by Step.." By James Valentino and Joseph Goldenberg? If so would you recommend it? Amazon has it to 40.77 including S&H. I am looking to go from zero masterCAM knowledge to what ever my brain can handle in as short a time as possible. I have done the tutorial that came with the disc and find I know just a little more than nothing. I need a more step by step best prcatice type tutroial to learn from and quickly. TIA

High-jack, sorry.... Mark; Why did you op for RAID1 vs. Raid0? How often do you run back-ups or do you save to a server? I just ordered a 370 setup about like yours cost was right at $3K. dual monitors, NVIDIA card, SATA RAID0, 1GRAM, XPpro, etc.

You hit the nail on the head cmr. My work is exactly like that. Every part is a custom and I seldom get to run more than ten parts the same. I too hope X is an awesome product for all of us no matter our needs.

Hardmill, Alright, now what, why won't it allow me to select anything????????? It's asking me ot select the first entity but nothing will highlight? I have copied an operation and have deleted the chain, now I want to select a new partial chain from my solid w/o generating lines and arcs.

I guess I'm doing it the same as you MayDay. First I have to Create>Curve>Single>From solid to get anything to select. Solids are great now give me the chocolate cake........ There has got to be a better way......

If I selct chain>partial I can't select anything? Cursor just waves around and no entities are highlighted???? I do have edges "Y" and faces "N" set. I am selecting Solids and then attempting to define a partial chain???? What am I missing?

How do I select partial chains from a solid. I am currently using Create>Curve>One Edge>From Solid and then using these entities to define my paths. Is there a way to select the edges individually from the solid with out getting a loop? TIA

Is there anyway to safeguard against plunging with a face mill that can not do this? I haven't done this for some time but it's just a matter of time before I have a brain-fart and try to burough into something with my 2" Mitsu ASX400.
