  6. in the end i milled the countersinks with a flowline spiral surface and a 1/2" endmill. thanks everyone for your help
  7. good morning team! i just got my single flute cutter. i will try doing the counterbore with a flat endmill first then countersinking with the new tool.
  8. thanks john..the new tool should be here tomorrow so i will wait. the spindle is belt driven so it must be slipping. hopefully the new tool will help. thanks everyone for your help, i will update tomorrow.

  12. ok i just ordered a 3 flute bit from mcmaster carr...recommended for aluminum. its not a router but an older fadal hopefully i will be counter sinking successfully tomorrow
  13. tried that and the spindle is still stalling. too many flutes?

  15. thanks for all the responses guys this is such a great forum! i tried 600 rpm 10 inch per minute and the chatter is gone but it stops the spindle and leaves me with what you see in the picture. seems really hard on the machine. i am using coolant. seems like a different tool is my next step. one flute?
