Thanks all am test driving Zone Alarm

My current virus checker is expiring and I have
been unable to renew it - V comm Fixi-it -
What programs are you guys using that work well
with Mcam X & 9 I have read reviews until Im
totally confused - is a suite better than
an individual set - what about support needed
and the cost of support - I know I want disks
and documentation not a download - had too much
trouble with that today - spent $40 and have nothing to show for it
Thanks for any input - as of now Im totally in the dark

Using the 4 axis hmc that comes with x - if I
try to program an arc using the b axis the axis
subsitution selection in the rotary axis dialog box is not active - the program will index but not do rotary motion - a machine brought in from 9 using updatepost works fine - the machine def for the hmc that came with X is set to allow full rotation - the 4 axis vmc that came with X works perfectly using the same post as the hmc -
Question is how or where can I activate the
axis substitution for the horizontal -
Thanks for any help guys

Basically you use create a fillet - then
go the multiple trim sissors and close arc

I have had some luck putting small radii
in the corners .001 to .0005 - you lose
a litte accuracy but sometimes it works

It happens if you double select a function
without choosing geometry - example right
click colors then without picking geometry
right click colors again - happens with some other function too

Using X MR1 in lathe
In V9 part geometry
could be created by setting the c-plane to
DZ and creating a line multi by entering
a D value then a Z value then a D value etc.
it automatically used the previous D value
when entering a Z value and Z value when
entering the next D value
Is there is a way to do this in X - am I missing
a setting or a way to enter the geometry

It helps me most if Ive workred with the software
first - "you don't remember the answers to
questions you dont't have"

Thanks for reply

First many thanks to all who post questions
and especially answers and tips - have saved
me many hours and much trouble
Running X Mill level3
If I create a new c-plane by picking geometry
and give it a name my screen says the c-plane is not saved - there is a save option in the planes menu but I can't get it to do anything
Now if I translate that created c-plane to another plane - I can't go back to originally created c-plane it is listed in the named planes but I can't go back to it am I missing something?
Also in V9 there was a way to change the screen density display of existing surfaces - I don't see how to change this value after they are created in X

I run XP PRO and find if I forget to exit one
function before trying another one my speakers
contuuously buzz or click until I power down and
restart - doesen't always happen but sometimes

In V9 create toolpath contour
set cutter to off
then filter to toolpath to get arcs and tangent
lines - experiment with settings - to see what you have backplot using static endpoints
when you have one that looks good
backplot and save as geometry to another
level
In X backplot create geometry does not work
for me

In V9 set z depth to required geometry depth
in chaining options set plane mask on
then select geometry in a window - I have found
this method to be sensitive to .0001 - as
long as the geometry lies in a plane at the
the selected Z depth - it only works for toolpath
selection though not attribute changes
-
When rotating toolpaths for a tombstone
toolpath - if I choose to make subroutines
it puts out every side as a seperate
subroutine complete - is there a way to
set up multiple calls to the same sub code
using different fiture offsets - have tried
the MPfan & MPfadal posts - nested subs is what
I think I need

What conversion is necessary to get the

Could not get an equation to do it - but
if all you need is the geometry it can be done
grapically - let me know if that helps - I
can e-mail you the method I use
