I'd suspect ATI as well. To prove that point, do a search for ATI and you'll see a number of posts. I leave my pagefile at 1 size. 2X RAM.

Try updating your video drivers, turning off shading before saving, try turning down the graphics acceleration.

This is NOT your problem. These are good numbers. I suggest you look elsewhere. headscratch.gif

Also, turn off display of surface/plane intersections. Screen ==> Configure ==> NC Settings ==> Surface Settings ==> and turn off Display surface/plane intersections. This can reduce processing time by 50% or more. biggrin.gif

I would tend to agree with James and say that the ATI card is the culprit.

Turning down graphic acel will slow you down even more.

Try setting your database allocation to 50,000 and your toolpath allocations to 50,000.

You dont need them at 128,000 on most stuff.

This will give your system the extra memory it needs if it is a Windows problem.

I give Win2k at least 512 megs for system and swap file. Your swap file is practicly non existant with only 512 meg of RAM. Get at least a GIG of RAM to run the best it can go. Swap files are very important.

Also, end task of anything else running.

Systray and Explorer are the only things you need up and running in memory for Win2k to work I'm pretty sure....

Do not confuse the Fire GL cards with the other offerings from ATI (Radeon, etc.) intended for gamers. The Fire GL series cards are professional workstation graphics adapters with excellent OpenGL support. I've been using a Fire GL2 for 2 years on my system with "Zero" problems. The graphics card IMO is not your problem, although you should make sure you have the latest Win2K driver.

  • 2 years later...

check your mastercam config

settings, configuration, toolpaths (this may not be it since you mentioned solids) and check your memory buffering. mine is set to 512 mb, but if i lower it, Mastercam instantly crashes. so try increasing the memory buffering.

im not sure if this will solve your problem tho but you can try it out.

let me know if it works for you
