XP lockup with V9

does anyone experience V9 not recovering from XP going into screensaver mode? I need to shut it down with Task Man, and then it wont start again till rebooting XP - it does start, but then locks up with a white screen.

Do you have an ATI video card? If so try turning down the Hardware Acceleration and see what happens. A search for 'video cards' on the forum will show all kinds of issues with ATI cards.

 

At the shop we are running XP with screensavers on without problems. Have Nvidia TI 4200 video cards.

 

Can you turn the screenssaver off??

I've had something similar happen with both XP and Win 2000 and Quadro FX video cards.

 

If I leave a shaded solid model of a large object

(physically large not megabytes large) on the sceen for a while without moving the mouse or using the keyboard, the hard drive will start chattering and Mastercam locks up.

Rebooting is about the only way to recover from it.

I'm guessing that the parasolid kernal eats up memory till there's not enough left to run the computer.

 

This only happens with large SHADED models. The same model left unshaded can stay on the screen indefinitely with no problems

you guys are on it.. Got a Radeon ATI, and usually shading seems to ensure it happens, thanks will try resetting the accel
