Working with Heidenhain tooltables (TOOL.T)

Hello, I have a question about using the tool tables (like TOOL.T) in Heidenhain 530. Specifically, I would like to have multiple tooltable files (+.T files), where each file represents a collection of tools for a particular workpiece. Then, I would load the tool table onto the machine along with the program for this workpiece. If possible, I would call the specific tooltable file at the beginning of a G-code file.

Is this possible? Has anyone already used this method of program preparation?

If yes, I would greatly appreciate if you could explain to me the procedure how to do this.

Best regards.

I don't have access to a 530 control anymore but used to load partial tool files all the time, not from inside a G code program though.

You can export your tool.T file and delete the tools you don't require, then re-import it from the tool file page. Think from memory you might have to use the copy soft key and when you do it prompts you if you want to over write the tools, as you only have the tools you want it only changes those ones and leaves the others as be. Sorry working from memory without a control in front of me, but hopefully this helps.

Yes, this is possible. At least I did it on a TNC640 and was told by HH that there was no difference as far as this goes. They are stored in the control as man readable(text) files. Rename the one you want to replace to something sensible, easy to remember and relative to that tool lists part, preferably outside of the control. Then name your new one TOOL.T and copy it back to the control. I used TNCRemote to move files back and forth.
