Eliminate Pluging of 3mm endmill -- Only come in from the sides!

Hi.

Please excuse my ignorance of Mastercam.   I am a novice user.  We have a c-hook program running our parts.  But, I would like to modify my 3mm flat endmill so that it only comes in from the side of my part to mill away the material it removes.  The pre-designated toolpath written for us has it plunging down multiple times and the tool is getting dull very quick.  Our specialist who did all this for us had to retire due to health reasons and I'm left figuring this out now.   I am very familiar with the basics but it's not very obvious how to prevent this tool from coming straight down into my part.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

To be fair, I haven't spent much time trying, but I don't believe you can cause the engraving toolpath to enter from the sides..  Can you share a file with what you're trying to accomplish?

Yeah, the best you can do with the Engrave toolpath is use the ramp entry setting.

Honestly, I wish Engrave got reimagined as a variant of 2D Dynamic or even OptiRough instead of what appears to be a variant of Pocket.
