Moving Mastercam to new computer

I am moving Mastercam to a new computer. Just got a Dell Workstation 360. What is the best way to transfer all my settings?

In the mastercam root directory is a file ***.cfg , this has your defaults for colours, files etc. You need to make sure your directory structure is the same on the new pc. Copy your post files, tool librarys, and defaults files (**.df9) and paste them over the top of the ones from the new install.

Don't forget to also copy and paste in MC9RS.dll (if you're using an updated one, that is).

If I copy the .cfg file and Mastercam is installed on a differnt directory than the old computer, that might cause me some problems?

 

It might be better just to reconfigure on the new system. Agree?

A different directory structure on the new PC will definitely be a problem with the old CFG file. You can open the CFG in a text editor, CIMCO, and hand edit all the pathes listed in the CFG. Still could be a problem using the old CFG.

I guess you could say that MC9RS.dll contains all the guts to MC...the size, shape, positioning of things and text of all dialog boxes. And probably more.
