Haas peck drill / chip break cycles

Does the Haas standard peck drill and chip break cycles support the peck clearance? Does the peck crill cycle support 1st peck and subsequent peck? I have used the deep hole boring (I, J, K) and no problems there.

Roger, the peck clearance can be set at SETTING #22.

no. but double check me by trying out a few canned cycles with the quick code program in the control. O use either g83 or g73.

Unfortunately I don't have the machine to play with, I am writing a post for a customer. Going from memory works great if you have a great memory... Can the peck clearance be edited via Gcode? Perhaps a "K" added to the peck and chip break lines?

I = initial peck

J = peck decrement

K = minimum peck

 

You can setup the post so that K = I - J to get first and subsequent peck options, but I just rename the peck2 and peckclr options to be decrement and minimum, then check to see if decrement <> 0 and output IJK instead of Q.

 

Peck slearance cannot be changed on the fly (Unless there is some way to write to the machine parameters that I am unaware of).

Well yes Gleen you could change it between holes I think. You could use a Marco number for the peck vaules and then change that paramter on the parameter page and go from there. It mihgt change in a process but I think no be cool if it did. Just a Crazy idea is all.

Thanks for all the help guys. I did create a seperate deep hole boring cycle with the I, J, and K values. Although, I am going add the checking of K to zero, that could save a few headaches down the road. I did receive some sample code:

They told me that the K value was the peck clearance. This is what their old Mastercam post output, I don't know who wrote the post. Does the K do anything if there is a Q value in a G83 line?
