I'd venture a guess and say OpenGL 1.2-ish. Any acceptable video card that supports 1.5 will support previous versions.

Why not go with the new GeForce 6800 GT or Ultra that just came out this week. It is a amazing card and so far it is getting great reviews.

 

If you have the money go with a Quadro 2000, 3000, or 4000

Thats weird, I converted my 9700 pro and it owns my GF 5700 with 256 meg of ram.
