BOUNDING BOX

DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHY WHEN I SELECT BOUNDING BOX ON A SOLID MODEL IT OFFSETS THE BOX IN Z - & +, X AND Y ALWAYS COME OUT CORRECT. I HAVE ALL EXPAND SETTINGS SET TO 0.00 IN X, Y, & Z. THE FILES ARE IMPROTED PARASOLD AND IGS FILES. I'M RUNNING VER 9.2 MILL LEVEL 3, WIRE LEV 2 & SOLIDS VER 9. I USUALLY JUST TRANSLATE THE TOP & BOTTOM FRAMES TO THE CORRECT LOCATIONS IN Z, BUT THIS IS BECOMING A HASSEL TO DO ESPECIALLY WHEN i'M NOT REQUESTING AN OFFSET FOR THE BOX. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED

I have seen the same thing with solids. I think the bounding box captures the solid as was before cuts were made. Im not positive about that, but what I do is create curves on all edges of the solid and create the bounding box around that.

I agree, but if the solid wasn't made in Mastercam, how would it know about the cuts. In the solid ops menu it shows only one complete body. The idea about the curves should help though.

If the solid is like extrude from a spline kinda ellips and control points naturally can be out of ellips BBox can catch conrol points as boundary .

I `ve seen it a couple of times .

If you convert solid to surfaces the result can be better .
