Hi friends

Can anybody explain me how this WCS ie G54,G55 G56 used in actual Milling machining process. As i have only idea about G92 to set PRZ while machining. ie we are filling this values of PRZ in prgram while running it.

How actually this G55 etc are set on the CNC machine. Are they specified for each faces??

like for Top -54 Front 55 Side 57 etc.

Thank you in advace

G55, G56, G57... Machine offset

WCS... Mastercam offest (center and plane definition)

I use the G55, G56, G57... for multiple parts (setups fixture offsets) in the same machine. I use a main program to call out the position (G55) then call a subprogram that cuts the first part. Then the subprogram returns to the main program which will call out G56, then back to the subprogram to cut the second part...

I use the WCS in mastercam to select the centers of multiple electrodes on a complex part. I may have several smaller electrodes for one larger part (mold). I create and select a point and use that as the WCS center for each electrode.

Another example...

If your mastercam file has many differnt components, each component could be assigned its own WCS. Then in the machine each component would be assinged its own G55 (or G56...)

To answer you question about using it to assign a WCS to each face (plane)... Yes you can do that. Now you dont have to move or rotate your geometry in the file.

The WCS is a powerful tool and there are other ways to use it, but this how I use it in a 3-axis milling machine.
