Face and Turn

Is there any way that I can face and turn with the same tool without sending the tool home?

After creating your facing op, Create a turning op using the same tool from the facing op.. BTW what version are you running?

I'm using 8.1.1. I did use the same tool to face and to rough o.d. but the tool went home before it came back to cut the o.d.. Is this something I need to change in the post?

Use step in your backplot to see what your tool after facing is doing? IF its going directly from facing to your turning operation as it should. Then i belive its a post problem.

Make sure the tool offset number is the same for both operations. If you have T0101 for

the facing OP and T0102 for the turning OP

it may cause the tool to run home between OPS.

Try posting with the generic mpfan post off the disc. It should do both OPs before going home if the T# is the same for both cuts

You might also try using a single finish toolpath and chain the face and the od pass in their respective (different directions). Use Auto cutter comp and Mastercam will run the facing pass comped left and the od pass comped right. If you have roughing to do I'd suggest a single roughing path that takes care of the excess face stock.

Keeping the tool and offset number the same did the trick. Thank you for your help everyone!
