Good Morning

We currently have a 18 month old Okuma

MB-56VA. We started to use the IGF programmeing for the first week and then went straight over to M/C. You could save a lot not getting the IGF progamming funtion (if this is possible. you might have to speak to your sales guy).

I have programmed and run a number of Okuma Lathes and Mills over the years and have not had much trouble with any of them.

I think you on the right track for your kind of work. If you are doing a lot of drilling i would definatly get the high pressure coolant pump. and just have a look at what size cutters you would be using for your surfaces to see if a 15,000 rpm spindle is going to be enough (we have got the 15k spindle but could still do with a little bit more to run our 1.5mm ballnose cutters)

Any other Questions you might have. I would be glad to help if i can

Regards Darren

Hi!

We use this machine for our T&D shop about year. It is OK so far.

We have all options on it.

Person. I don't like Ethernet connection as DNC on it. It is bugging when you have to reload NC code each time you do small changes.

I miss possibility to run straight from computer like on older controls with OkumaDNC soft.

Regards

Okumas rock in general and the E control is the cat's a$$. We have 2 ES-V3016 VMCs [Okuma's attempt at a 'commodity machine'] and they are reliable and deadly accurate; I would've loved to buy an MC-V but they were just too much $$. The only things I don't like about our machines are the control [u10M] and the umbrella-style toolchanger. We have the E100L control on our L370 lathes and it is the sh!t. I don't know if the MC-V even comes with a umbrella-style ATC but if the side-mount is an option, BUY IT!
