Win2K file save

A guy out in the shop did a ramsaver on his core file " which is huge" and then went to save the file and got a message saying "memory table can't be found 34" so he hit "esc" then it said the same thing except it was 40 and he repeated hitting "esc" until the error was gone.

He went to retrieve the file and all of his geometry was gone. He has lost about 5 hours worth of work on the file. We save all files to a W2K server and every night they are backed up. Luckily!

I was wondering if any of you know what would have caused this. He said it happens occasionally but only 1 or 2 errors appear and he never loses any data to his knowledge.

Hello!

I posted about this error message back in March:

http://www.emastercam.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000725.html

without a whole lot of response! Havn't lost any data yet though. This thread:

http://www.emastercam.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/001251.html

also mentions the error message.

CNC, any response?

Kathy

also mentions this error message.

Thanks Kathy.

Bullines I don't know I didn't see it happen.

And Kathy all 3.8 megs of data were wiped clean. The only thing he had left was the file name. He was pretty freaked out about it because the tool is due the 25th of July and we hadn't even started putting toolpaths to it.

Damn are we busy here in the cad room. Everyone is on Vacation and Lou is gone too. He is our computer guru.

Bill,

Search your sytem for filename.*

See if you have a file with the right name

and NO file extension. If you've got one

rename it something else with a MC8 extension and see if you can open it with MC.

You can also look in C:MCAM81BACKUP.

A file in the Backup folder probably won't

have the right name, but look at the size

date and timestamp attributes and you may

find a useable file.

Just as a precaution, what I do is save a backup file before running RAM Saver. I've never encountered that error though but ANYTHING that touches the database other than geometry creation I am very careful with.
