Thread milling

I would like to know an easy way to post thread milling to K.& T. Horizontal machines. Other then a Cimco Patch,The format in Mastercam is new to me.

Are you talking about sending the program to the machine, or what the posted program is supposed to look like? What control does the machine have?

Your post will have to output a "K" value. I believe it is the arc radians. Sorry you have to work on such a piece of shnit. If you post with your regulas post then manually add the "K" value it will work.

What is it you are looking for? A way to post it? send it to the machine? or program it in mastercam?

You donot have to create a toolI use a e.m.

Just put in the diameter of your thread mill in it doesn't matter if it has 1 or many flutes start on bottom of your geometry witch will be your major diameter

Do the machines have helical interpolation? Do you have a sample of what you want the code to look like?

Its been a while but I believe the gemini D uses a G33 I,J and K. I also think it needs a stop point for each 180º move.

These machines work in Quadrants and Radians. My understanding of these controls is they do not have a G-Code for Helical Interpolation.

If the Gem control will not accept a "Helical" motion, then suggest you use a point to point tool path. The K&T's I have used would do this. For the age of the machines, these things were slick for their time. Can you electronically transfer files into the control?? If so then the point to point should work well (unless you run out of memory - then you will need to use a BTR off of a DNC/PC to run longer programs)

We are having trouble sending and recieving programs to and from these machines in both cimco, Master-Cam, And SDNC. can anyone help?
