MasterCam/Cimco relationship

We are very seriously thinking of upgrading our present DNC system to Cimco DNCmax with add on NCbase. I also know that Cimco offers other 3rd party add-ons to MasterCam.

 

Is Cimco a solid company with a long future?

 

Any thoughts pro/con will be appreciated.

I'd speak with your reseller. They may be able to point you in the right direction. There's some stuff related to X you should know about...

Cimco has been an excellent product for us. We have sold numerous DNC systems, and they have been very reliable. Their professional edition editor with its' backplot feature is second to none. It supports a wide variety of protocols, ISO and conversational code, and uses a clean, logical interface.

Cimco has been around for almost as long as Mastercam. I believe with their philosophy, they will be around for some time. Their products are outstanding and are continually updated. This maintains their position at the forefront of technology. The quality of their product line is second to none. They will continue to be a company leading the market instead of following. They also have an excellent relationship with Mastercam because that's how they started, as a Mcam reseller. This relationship will continue.

I don't know anything about NCBase,but we have DNC Max serving 8 cnc's and I love it.

If I don't mistaken

I belive the Cimco is going to be drop as the "official" Editor when they relese the X version.

Cimco has never been the official editor of MC. But it is certainly the prefered. The default editor of MC is pfe32, an old shareware editor from a guy in the UK.

 

For X, Cimco will no longer be shipped with MC but it and/or any editor can be set as your default editor for MC.

I never use pfe32 but Steve is right on target with his explanation.

To add to Steves comment, if you have a current seat of Mastercam (non X) then you should have a copy of CIMCO that can be set as your default editor in X obviously future new Mastercam (X) customers wont have the option to do this unless they purchase a seat of CIMCO.
