mpgen5x is the post. i want to always tap in high gear M43 no matter what the RPM. how would I set up the logic for this?

# Define the gear selection code

flktbl 1 3 #Lookup table definition - table no. - no. entries

41 0 #Low gear range

42 262 #Med gear range

43 688 #Hi gear range

Mayday, I'd put something in pgear that says 'if its a tap, use high gear, else do the usual' In MPFAN it'd probably look something like this:

pgear #Find spindle gear from lookup table

if tool_typ > 3 & tool_typ < 6, # If tapping mode

[

gear = 43

*gear

]

else,

[

gear = frange {one, speed}

*gear

]

Note that the goofy parentheses {} should be normal ones in reality but the forum rules don't like them sometimes so I had to sub {}

thnks Marting,now I get it.

its doubling up now.here is what I got

if tool_typ > 3 & tool_typ < 6, # If tapping mode

[

gear = 43

*gear

]

else,

if use_gear = one,

[

gear = frange

*gear

]

and here is what i get

267M3M43M42

:G0G17G90X0.Y0.S267M3M43M42 - M43 AND M42

Z1.M8

G84Z-1.1R.1F33.43

G80J1

G0Z1.

Mayday

I'm not exactly sure what tool is what type but I know that the statement above works for tapping because one of my Matsuuras requires an M42 right after the toolchange when tapping and I used this logic as shown above to get M42 when tapping and not when not tapping. I didn't actually figure this out on my own, one of the other guys suggested I use tool type to accomplish what I needed.
