we're getting a replacement for this tool

in a short version, but i sure would like to try the mitsubishi tool, in the future

maybe my run time was just too much for the tool

40 mins.

any ideas on surface footage and chipload are very well appreciated.

+1 for the Mitsubishi. I wish I could play with those cutters more but the majority of what I build at this shop is aluminum. The few recent jobs that I have switched them over for... Watch out!!! .125 chip load. All I could say to the bunch of people standing behind me at that machine was "hang on boys,... we're going for a ride".

 

I think I'll check into using them for aluminum. I've been using a lot of the Sandvik 790 cutters for that, as well as Ingersoll's router mill.

Hey Psycho, alum inserts for the mitsu are Hti10. Get a wiper for the facemills... yeah, and watch out.

I believe that inserts of this style are only meant to last for about 15 minutes of cutting time. In 400 series SS we run them at 450 sfm with a .050 - .075 chip. This is for Iscar's version. They are definitely amazing to watch.
