FEA analyis of SW2004 Assy

Does anyone have access to a FEA program that can analyize a solidworks 2004 assembly consisting of ABS plastic and HR steel it is a 4 foot long shelf that we are looking at for the parcel service companys for the holiday season increase .... they use rental trucks and need removable shelves

Cosmos works will do this, Why not try and get a demo from your solidworks distibuter?

I think they charge a significant amount of $$$ for a 30 day demo... I just want to test this one design b4 I go to prototype.

If you have Cosmos Experss you can add a join in your assembly and run the FEA on that.

Be EXTREMELY wary of ANY results you get from Cosmos Express. It makes very pretty pictures but there is a reason it's included with Solidworks at no extra charge.

 

ONLY use it to get an idea if you are headed in the right direction. For true FEA analysis it is worth your while to use good software.

I am with jbel, I have have found Cosmos Express to be suspect at best.

FEA code is very very expensive so people that have it generally don't like giving away free time with it.

my Solidworks dealer says they offer the service of Cosmos Works for probably "A few Hundred dollars" It will take more than that to build a prototype mold... so I think I will give them a try.
