  1. Under the heading of is there another solution: I put my TEC file calls inside the CMD file. Then the ISO file just stands by itself. You can post out whatever toolpaths you need and group them together that way. For example in the CMD program: ; (WXXXX.CMD) CCF,DOWEL.CMD WIR,LS25A TEC,TDRGH SCF,1.0 CLE,-.010 ...... ....... ........ then later in the CMD program: AUX,13 GOP,1 THD TEC,TDFIN HPA,.2000 ....... ........ .........
  2. We use Seco 2 1/2" feed mills on H13 45 Rc everyday. One important thing to note is DOC. You stated a 0.06 DOC. We tend to see a severe decrease in insert life with a heavy DOC. The small radii on the insert corners tend to break out and then it is a quick death from there. Try lightening it up to .03-.04 and I think you will see much better performance.
  3. .GE3 is from V6 and earlier as I remember it. It can be opened with V9 but not X. In V9, just click "File, Get" then click on the "Files Of Type" dropdown box and select "Pre-V7 MasterCam Files (.GE3)". Then just select your file. As for the OPS, there are no OPS as part of the geometry file before V9. The NCI file was stand alone. Geometry is all you will get from a .GE3 HTH
  4. McMaster Carr part number 31875K12. Found on page 2472 item 'D' under air nozzles. These things work great and at $33.63 each, they wont break the bank. Quiet, quiet, quiet, and they move a lot of air too!!!
  5. quote: It will give you a look at the posted code not the NCI (pre-posted) information I don't know, I have a button on my toolbar in V9 that exports my NCI code to MetaCut and I can then view the NCI code there. I think that is what JEFF2005 is looking for. I would really like it for X also. Anyone else???
  6. See here for thread diameter specs.
  7. quote: Was the machine a Hydromat? Did he work at Dana in St. Thomas? The hydromat is a high production machine that takes days to change the setup but spits out lots 'o' parts, hardly compares to a 3 axis toolroom mill. We have about a dozen Hydramats and they do spit parts out like nobody's business. We're talking parts by the hundreds of thousands or millions. They do take forever to setup but man can they make parts. They are similar to rotary transfer machines and at each station heads move in and work on the part. I guess you could consider them 8 or 10 or however many axis machines but not really in the same sense as a regular mill or lathe.
  8. Have not received X yet. IS Dept. Does remachining in X allow for high speed toolpath option???
  9. quote: The rule of thumb I was taught in my apprenticeship days was half the speed(rpm) and twice the feed(ipm).
  10. Yes but if the monthly newsletter is no longer necessary, I would think that says something.
  11. From the MasterCam NewsFlash quote: Since Mastercam X will be hitting the streets shortly, the Mastercam X Bulletin and this monthly Newsflash will combine to become one monthly communication from CNC Software. Future Newsflash bulletins will contain all kinds of information about Mastercam X, so the need for a separate bulletin no longer exists.
  12. Miscellaneous integer is definitely the way to go with this. There are many examples out there on how to modify your post to accomplish this. Do a search for 'miscellaneous integer' and it should give you tons of info.
  13. The front of my MC solids tutorial has a great picture of one. Maybe someone from CNC Software could throw you a bone.
  14. quote: 1 meg a minute is still a fast download if they get the bugs worked out.... NO, NO, NO!!!!!! Do not settle for this. It sounds like Haas needs to fix their problem, not make customers settle for slow download times. We have OKK mills with the hard drives mapped directly to our PC's that run M'cam. Drag and drop 10 meg files while the machine is running finish toolpaths on die cavities with no lag or data starvation in about 10 seconds.
  15. quote: I would also like to discuss grinding it. Ha! Grinding D2 Now that's a good one!! It is the biggest PITA I have ever seen. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  16. quote: My other guy just made a trode with it today not to bad for freaking vapor ware I say. So we all agree it is vaporware then, right????
  17. Twenty years ago many people said they would never buy a car made in Japan. Now the Japanese are positioned to kick the big 3's collective butts. Granted many of those 'imports' are made here in the USA, but never say never. If the quality, reliability and styling are there, it's only a matter of time.
  18. quote: Wait for X DOH!!!!!!
  19. Be EXTREMELY wary of ANY results you get from Cosmos Express. It makes very pretty pictures but there is a reason it's included with Solidworks at no extra charge. ONLY use it to get an idea if you are headed in the right direction. For true FEA analysis it is worth your while to use good software.
  20. We have three of the Hardinge gang type lathes in our organization and they have been reasonably accurate and reliable machines.
  21. Command makes a coolant driven keyway broach. You can find information here.
  22. Definitely trial and error . Staging tools calls the next tool to the tool change pocket on machines that have floating tool pocket assignments. It makes for a faster tool change by decreasing the wait time for the toolchanger to cycle around.
