Just installed full release of windows XP Pro . ( not beta ) with Mastercam v8.1.1 and i tell you all it kicks arse... I first thing i tried was soild verify and i think the speed has increased at least 20% , can't wait to really test it . Even the new look and the layout looks hot in XP windows .

Has anyone else installed XP, Any feed back would be good....

Charles,

As for what i have seen of XP in the last 6 monthes he most likly is talking about Windows XP it self.

I have to get at least one box running to see how good it is.

It will be hard to walk away from Win2K at this time.

I have not seen any thing about there server edition yet.

I've got to agree with you.

Win XP would have to provide a substantial

performance increase to convince me to abandon Win2K.

My computers run great and I can't remember the last time I had a crash.

Yesterday I was helping a friend on a WinME

machine and I was reminded all over again, just how good Win2K really is.

Why spend $300 to fix something that isn't broken?

I'm not migrating from Win2k because I have some grave security concerns that Microsoft has yet(to the best of my knowledge) to address. You know, services running in the background, (without my knowledge or consent) and things like that.

I would assume that there's an active/inactive setting for the desktop feature. Then again, this is Micro$oft we're talking about. Also, they've opened up the OS, as far as security is concerned. It's probably to take advantage of all the sockets (read: Internet) features of the .Net platform. Then again, it could also be to push XP's built-in firewall software as well.
