undercuts again

I have uploaded a file to the mc8 folder on the ftp called undercuttest.mc8. I was hoping someone might be able to tell me a way to get mastercam version 8.1.1 to cut the undercut(3 axis only) on this fairly simple part.

I don't have time now to look at the file so I don't know if this will work. But....we've had good luck getting MC to cut undercuts on simple parts by using a 3D swept toolpath.

The part came in as a half cylinder centered on the x axis. Are you cutting from the red line side as the top or from the top view?

I assumed you mean the top view after I saw the 1/4 lollipop. In V8 I would use create curve flowline to make multiple arcs concentric to the cylinder and use a simple 3D contour routine to cut the flowlines. Change the number of slices to get a better finish. In V9 use surface rough contour and it will undercut the surfaces.

Sorry for the slow response. I am cutting from the top view. I tried a test peice using a simple wireframe revolved cut and it cut fine. I assumed it would not. Go figure.
