Custom taps

Afternoon all,

I need to produce an M4 helicoil thread through 2 ribs. The tap would need to effectively tap 50mm deep, though it would only be cutting 1xd at a time. Where on earth would I get this from. I tried a company who produces specials here and he laughed at me!!!!!

 

Any help appreciated.

I do not know if it would make sence to go half around the world. But we have toolfab here on the forum.

Long shank taps like that are often called "pulley taps". from the function of having to tap set screw holes on the hubs of pulleys with large diameter shives
