Reverse Posting?

Is there a way to create a workable MC9 using nothing more than a previously generated NC code?

Do a search for reverse posting on the forum... It's been covered in the past. I have never tried it so I am of no help.

I have never had any luck with reverse posting but, depending on how complicated a program it is, you could delete all the m and g codes,feed rates and speeds and rename just the x and y values as an ascii file. When you convert the ascii file in Mastercam it will give you points at those locations to create geometry from.

i use an old dos utility that converts nc code to nci. this only creates geom out of tool paths but can get you out of a tight spot if needed. e-mail me if you need a copy. [email protected].

It does work but you will get a piece of geometry for every line of code. If it's a complex part, it will be messy and hard to decipher. If it's something simple (i.e. 2d engraving or contour) it won't be so bad and will only require a little cleaning up.

Inplot software will converter Gcode to a DXF. You have to config it abit. Its pretty simple. You could DXF each tool and bring each tool in on a differnt layer. They have a 30 day trial.

If you are only needing to simulate the Gcode or make simple edits to it, do not forget that a copy of the Metacut Utilites is included with Mastercam and can be very useful for this.
