Mazak EIA

A buddy of mine is thinking of buying a Mazak but dosen't want to use Mazatrol. The last shop I worked at we ran all our programs in EIA exclusively. Is this an option, or is standard on a M-32 control? Thanks in advance.

All of our VMC's are Mazaks with M32 controller. I am almost 100% certain that EIA is an option that you have to buy. We have never used Mazatrol to program our mills. I worked at a place were I programed lathes with Mazatrol. It seems to be a lot easier on a lathe than a mill.

Is is an option. We had to buy one for a lathe at our last place and they ended up coming out and having to place a new board in the back of the m/c

M32 EIA is an option, and not standard. We have 3 vertical Mazaks, and only use EIA for 3D work. Otherwise we only program in Mazatrol. Fusion 640 IEA comes as standard.

At some point they made it standard. I just dont know when that point was. The older the control, the more likely it was an option.

When the M32 came out it featured both Mazatrol and EIA as standard and not as an option - My experience is gained from ordering a VQC15/40 in November 1989.

Perhaps Kentucky made this an otion later on - cannot say for sure one way or the other. Best bet is to view this machine tool control to see if EIA is present.

I remember it like Jack for M32... EIA and Mazatrol was standard. The option (for what shows up on the option ladder) is for Mazatrol to EIA conversion (which is still an option for Fusion). If you have this option, you can have the control output g-code from a Mazatrol program.
