Memory Error - X won't run

Hi Michael --

I'm curious as to how you installed X without having .NET v1.1 installed on your machine. If you used the CD, it should not have allowed you to install X with .NET v1.0.3705 -- unless you browsed the CD and ran the installation directly. You really shouldn't do that, as X requires both Direct X 9.0c and .NET v1.1 to run. In fact, this error is the reason that we force the installation of .Net v1.1.

Thank you,

T.J. Boberek

Ok, I was just going to wait and see, but now I am extra curious. If .net is required and installed by mastercam, than maybe he just got lucky during the re-install of mastercam, and it was really another problem.

I want to reformulate my question...If I have a later (beta) release of .net framwork, will mastercam be satisfied with that? I know betas are betas, but some of us are codeing with visual studio betas that require the use of .NET 2.0 beta.

How many times can I say beta in one post? smile.gif

If I have to code on a different box, I can do that. I just want to know.

It was installed from a file server location so I guess the .NET and Direct X checks didn't happen. X does seem to be running OK? We're running Windows 2000, soon to be migrated to XP. We have X running on about 10 PCs and mine was the only one that had a problem. My machine was the only one with any development tools installed (VB6, Visual Studio .NET)

Currently .NET is NOT installed on any of our machines???

DirectX 9 Hotfix -KBG839643 is installed

Anyway, we'll start loading from the CD.

Hi Paul --

The Mastercam X CD will not be satisfied by Beta 2 of the .NET Framework. It will require that the .NET Framework v1.1 be installed on your system.

We went back and forth on this, but finally decided that as v1.1 is the current stable release, we would required its installation. Version 1.1 will co-exist peacefully with Beta 2 -- I have both on my system.

If you have v1.0.3705, the Mastercam X CD will detect that v1.1 is missing and require that you install it first. Version 1.1 of the Framework is included on the Mastercam X CD.

If you directly run the Mastercam X installation (say, from a fileserver) without going through the CD Frontend, it WILL let you install without .NET v1.1 (and without DirectX 9.0c). This may work on some machines, but in our testing, MANY machines had problems running X without .NET v1.1.

Thank you,

T.J. Boberek
