Any rotary 4th axis experts?

probably best resources besides here would be the cd from Mike Mattera "Tips for Manufacturing" he has one called Rotary 4th axis for version 9. Very good way to learn the 4th axis! Otherwise, ask a more detailed question on what you are trying to do and many will help here. Specially those of us that arent busy learning X biggrin.gif

1st question are you using C-plane for your indexing?

2nd Question are you uing Transform Rotate for your indexing and if so what is your T-plane you are rotatin about?

3rd Question do you have a post that supports 4th axis machining and if so do you have it set-up correct?

4th Question do you have question 164 turned on in the post?

5th question have you used the 5 axis toolpaths in a 4 axis mode?

6th Question have you use axis substition do achieve really slick 4th axis toolpath using 3xis metohds?

7th question do you know how to find the flat patter on a detail on the part?

 

That is just for starters so might also look at Charles Davis book does a good job of getting you started and going in a good direction as well.
