Tool defaults and settings

I am having trouble setting the defaults for the tools in Version 9. I use a template file with the beds of my machine that I go back to, but no matter what I enter as the tool parameters when I go back I have to change for example the tool offset # as well as the program # etc. I have to tie the beds together every time. It is frustrating and I know there is a simple fix. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hello Ted,

What do you mean by the beds of your machine. If you go under job setup look under to see if search tool library when entering tool number.

And the progam number we can fix in your post by it asking you your progrram # and posting it.

Please to clarify by th beds of your machine.

The "from tool" seems to have solved the problem for the length offsets. How do I make the Miscellaneous values (where I tie my tables together) as well as set the others such as lead in/out and tabs so they repeat and don't require changing. Also, do these values have to be reintered when I change to another type toolpath ie, from contour to pocket? I think I am making very positive progress. Thanks for any input.

what you need to do is look at the nc util, then

def ops then defaults , make all your clearance settings and depth of cut stuff there(change whatever you want) save when exiting and it will call those parameters up when you goto do 1 of those toolpaths (rember you have to make the changes to the nessary opertions in the defaults.) what I mean is that if you want changes to appear in "pocket" then change the pocket defaults and same for contour ....drilll ect...
