Is there anyway to use the old way to debug a post?? The new debug is a great visual but is taking to long to navigate and not giving all the info I need to change my 4 axis post.
Thanks,
Steve
Mark

Craig,
Every day is a work day when you teach this CAM stuff. If you don't use it ya know. I like the surface Parts because you do have to use it when all else fails. As a matter of fact I help design a famous Guy's guitar using Mastercam X Surfaces. Surfaces are not as easy as solids to use.

Craig,
Hereis a video link of what I created from the geometry you put up. The dome is created off known points present on he part. Here is the link

I use it too only when people have questions on it. I think a month ago I went back to 7.2 to do a surface mill for a guy. (I can't get it out of my head man.) Personally I use X2.
Steve
Neurosis,
I have some help videos I did for people on the forums at www.cad2cam.blogspot.com. And a X2 wcs video that may help.

Lans,
Here is a link to what I was able to do. I extended the surfaces out the front face even distance I used .250. This allows the cutter to finish the surfaces more on an even flow without the extention I was getting the rough cut you showed first. Anyway the blend worked the best of all toolpahs I tried. Take a look. http://www.cad2cam.net/blend1/blend1.html

I use this method in 8,9 an X. Screen next menu hide, select only surfaces or use mask, select surfaces then get more detailed selection. after you have what you want on the screen go to screen change levels. I use screen hide on one of the videos on www.cad2cam.blogspot.net

Is it a common Taper or do you need to use 4 axis? As I said in your last post looks like you need a thread and cut point or a start point. Post the part or email it to me.

No lead-in the blend toolpath blends a toolpath between the two curves generated the convex you see is the radius of the ball endmill offsetting from the surface as it machines the wall starting from the curve boundry. I also have a 3-d swept toolpath notice it stops short of the wall. http://www.cad2cam.net/swept3d/swept3d.html
just another way

I have that same part with sound, I did it a little different than Jay, but who does it the same. Different is good variety.

couple more videos over at at www.cad2cam.blogspot.com
VFR700,
Go to www.cad2cam.blogspot.com wcs 4axis I have a small video that may help with wcs. The key selecting views are to pick x positive first y positive second lines work well to manually pick what you would like as a view.

ERROR(you cannot close the application while a task is open)can't close Mastercam really can't duplicate it just seems to happen. Is this a known issue or do we have demons?
Running Windows 2000 with Mastercam x2 mr2. We have had this problem on all versions of X.

Jay,
Sometimes stumbling over yourself is a good way to teach.( I personally didn't think you were stumbling ) If we show we don't stumble as teachers and programmers we can't show how to fix our stumbles, and this is where people learn from video.

Jay,
Good job on the video! I did a couple more videos for one of the companies I work for that may be helpful also. If I can dig them up, I will include a link. I wish all this knowledge was here when I bought Mastercam 16 years ago.

Are you starting the config file from the Icon? If so toolbars do not follow they will revert back to what you used last session. If this is what you are talking about try saving the toolbar as a different name Lathe.mtb,Mill.mtb then when you open mastercam manually go open them up.
