I am thinking of buying Dell Inspiron 9300 Laptop. I have these options that I need help on. Does anyone have some input?

 

Pentium M Processors

I get a major discount because my wife works for the school district for 24yrs.

If this is for Mastercam and you get a discount, I'd look at the Precision M70 notebook. It's a workhorse that puts all other notebooks to shame.

I'd stick with the NVIDIA chipset for the video card, especially if you will be running V9 on it.

They say X will run well on ATI cards, but I've never tried it myself.

It is a powerful machine, faster than most desktops with double the CPU Ghz.

 

Don't let the 2.26GHz fool ya. The 2MB L2 Cache helps it out. The display is 1920x1200 native, and the NVIDIA comes from Dell set to that. Very sharp, very high res. And I think it is wide aspect ratio, plays nices with Xs Ops Manager.

 

Only drawback I see is no 17" display, but ya get somethin that is easier to carry around and probably has longer battery life.

The 9300 does not have a docking slot.

 

This is a greate feature if you use the laptop at work on a network. You can leave an external mouse/keyboard/network cable/monitor plugged into the docking station at work.
