I don't know what has happened since lunch but my config in MCX has been all screwy. right mouse button config all out of whack etc..

anyhow... I uploaded a file called ghost_data.z2g It is on Jay's ftp in the MCX folder.

I have some purple arcs and lines I wanted translated -.250 in Z. Every which way I have tried this, there are some surface files that keep moving with the wireframe. I have cleared all selections, independently picked the entities and still it moves the surfaces.

Could someone if they have the time try it and see if I am just nuts? I swear this afternoon is like the twilight zone around here.

THanks for any help.

Ron I tried in both 2d and 3d next to the gview, neither way worked.

The surface data was a file merge into the wireframe file so I can not understand how there can be any associative link.

I tried in on my other pc to see if was this system only... nope both had the same results.

One other thing and I don't know if it has anything to do with my problems I am having...

I had written a program two weeks ago for a fadal and posted it to the machine. Operator comes up here and tells me the stock was larger than thought so I rewrote the program and posted to the fadal. Knowing the tool comment error was coming I advised him of it and the editor popped up (different editor than I use weird instance one) and the tool comments were correct. Puzzling...and weird instance 2

Next I open an explorer to verify the file overwrote on the fadal. Explorer locks up.. instance 3

Fire off another and the file was dated from 2 weeks ago. W.I.4

Repost and editor pops up (wrong editor)and tool comments are a mess.

Explorer verify overwrite all is good.

Now since that moment and two reboots everything is jacked.

Sorry so long but I am completely frustrated and I think I have a tumor in my brain.

The key sentece:

"The surface data was a file merge into the wireframe file so I can not understand how there can be any associative link."

When you merge files together in Mastercam X, the merged data becomes part of a group. Press the groups button on the Status bar. You should see the entites that got brought in during the file merge as a group. Delete the group and they should no longer be grouped together. (this is also the reason that merged entites come in as a red color, if you want the entites origonal color, go to the groups manager and select the group, then use the colors button on the group manager dialog box to change the colors of the merged entites)

Hope that is what is causing the problem and not something else. Good luck.

I think your *.MCX file has a problem. I only used your MCX file not your config file and had the same problem. I also checked in the groups and saw that it was cleared already. I did come up with a simple workaround. Save Some (all surfaces) to a new file. Delet all surfaces from current file, and move wireframe. Remerg surface and wireframe files. It seemed to work OK.

I have no idea what is wrong with this file.

THanks guys...

I did delete all the groups...still had an issue. I tried everything with the file and found a workaround.

Dave you are right. File is bogus. I iges'd it out and brought it back in. All worked afterwards.

I thought I was crazy. Thanks for your help.
