MC9 SLOTMILL

Hi!

Please! someone help me make slotmill !

I drawn rectangular shape with radius both end ,

look like keyway , and mill the slot ,

I've select circlemill , then slotmill , then filled out parameter , then click ok to create tool pathes. every time it pope up window message as ( slotmill ! boundary must consist of two parallel line conected by ares . use create/retangle with rectangular shape set to obround).

I've did used that, but it still pop up massage and did not created any tool pathe .

Please! some one help me this , and this very urgent , I have to work these on morning.

I appreciate any helps .

Both arcs have to be one section.

Can you tell me more spacific ( both arcs have to be one setion )

I drawn two parallel line .5 apart , 1" long , both end .25 radius . use .25 end mill . Or did I make mistake ?

Check your chain...Go into your chain paramaters and make sure that you're not masking anything.

Use contour (not slot mill).

 

Remember that contour has a ramp option if you do not want to plunge in Z.

 

Also. If slot is same size as tool, do not chain all the way around. Only pick one slie of slot.

There is more than one way of doing this operation like Bryan suggested. Contour, slot mill, even pocket with pre-drilling option.

I agree with robk on this one. Check your chain to make sure it's complete and closed, no overlaps or gaps. If you only chained a single entity or partial (open) chain, you would receive this error message. Can you upload the file to the FTP site linked above? Or e-mail the file to someone here to look at it for you. HTH

If the slot is 1/2" wide and the tool is 1/2" wide, just put a line down the center (center of arc to center of arc) and pick it as a single entity for a Contour. There's got to be a way to do a zig zag to get to depth. Try "Depth cuts" and "keep tool down" options.

While we are on the subject of "Slot Mill".

 

What does it do that you can not do with "Contour"?

can't say much for v9 since I can't remember it anymore.

 

But... V.X slot mill does offer an extremely quick way to program a slot compared to contour IMO.

It keeps the tool from banging into the wall with the lead in/out. Which is what Contour WILL do.

Hi !

I've got it worked , I've drawn radius with the arc radius , polar and gave coordinate demension, instate of fillet radius, then It worked fine .
