Chamfering.

Just before I go home for the weekend........ I'm trying to put a chamfer on the outside of a simple contour. I have created a chamfer cutter in the tool library which has a minor dia of 9.36 m.m., and a major of 25.4 . I used Toolpaths/Contour, selected the cutter and put in a depth of 2 m.m. , the required chamfer width. MC has offset the toolpath 10.7 away from the chained geometry and machined it at 2 deep, which doesn't get near the job. In Verify, the tool is shown as having zero minor diameter, that is the cutting edges intersect. I must be doing something wrong..... Have a good weekend all. Hugh Venables.

Sounds like you might have "Contour type" set to "2D" instead of "2D chamfer".

Select 2D chamfer in the profile type dropdown.

Set Top of stock at the Top of your stock

Set depth of cut to incremental and zero

Go into the 2D chamfer mill dropdown

and select the desired chamfer size and tool offset.

That should do it

make sure you have not offset the contour either. Chamfer takes care of everything. Make sure your depth is 0 Incremental and that the chain is on the top of the part and follow g-code's instructions.
