can we make drilling default to plunge rate instead of feed rate?

does anyone know how to make drll cycles use the plunge rate instead of the feed rate. We have some inserted endmills that we drill with occasionally and the plunge is considerably less than the feedrate.

 

Wouldn't it make more sense to have this as a default?

I'm not aware of a way to make it drill at the plunge rate. Maybe a post edit?

 

I do that occasionally too. Since it is an occasional occurance, I just edit it the few times it comes around.

 

Should this be the default? Since drilling only requires a feed rate, there is no need for a plunge rate....so no, *I* don't think so.

Ok but since they give us a "plunge rate field" in the tool library on drills and since the situation does occur once in a while why not make the default feedrate the plunge rate? then we would NEVER need to edit them.
