extending contours

I thought I read somewhere that I can get my post to automatically shorten the code output when doing this, but I can't find it. Right now it posts 3 Y or X axis moves in a row. Is there a way to fix this in the post, so I don't have to do it manually?

It was more recent I thought. There were ideas in that thread, but they didn't answer the question.

Not sure about the post ,but why is the code coming out like that ,there must be breaks in the contours ? I myself (if there is breaks in the contours) would join the lines or arcs together to create a cleaner gcode.

It comes out that way because of the extend contour feature.

Thats right I'm sorry I forgot about that feature (i dont program 2d files very much now).

I dont like that either. It happens with extend countour in mill and you lead in and lead out in lathe also.

I agree it makes the code messy and it should be all neat since it is one continuous move but what is to not like about it? The code is correct it will make a part, it causes NO functionality issues.

I am in a shop where we all program our own jobs, and sometimes i will get a job set up and programmed and then have to hand it off. We have 9 guys here capable of programming and only 2 of us use mastercam.

 

Well some of the guys complain that "mastercam adds all these extra moves". So i guess i dont like the extra lines because it will cause grown men to whine and i have to hear about it.

John, I don't mind it, I just thought there was a way to eliminate it.

I am not a "single block" guy(I like dry run better) but some people are and these extra lines sometimes leave pause marks on the part when someone is using single block.

I might be wrong( I am alot) but I thought I had this problem eliminated in one of my posts in the past, but now the extra lines are back again. I am pretty sure I didn't change anything.
