Verify and bullmills. Verifying as sharp corner????

Ahoy!,

I am using parallel finish to produce a rad blend with a 50mm tip tool with R0.8mm inserts. I have to tool defined as bullmill and it looks like it has a rad when verifying 2d paths, but the verify of the surface path shows a square cornered finish. Anyone else seen this??

Just a dumb question Bruce.

 

You didn't by chance rough it too close with a square E/M and not have enough stock in the corner to create the radius?

No, that was the first thing I thought too John. It will be going through vericut anyway, but it is better to know it is right before you get to that stage. I think I'll post a pic.

.8mm rad isn't very big. Are you sure it's not there?

 

Did you try "compare to stl" in verify? Or maybe a better quality setting?

The slop is produced 5 axis. I am then using the tool to blend the corner rad.

I tried different quality settings and yes the rad is there. It shows in 2d paths but not 3d.

Bruce have you tried the HS Raster instead of parallel?

No David, haven't had a chance. I think this might just be a verify quirk.

Maybe try and bump the radius size up alot just to test if it's a graphics or verify issue. ?

 

I usually rough with a bull tool (.030") and seems to be ok in verify.

I found that if you changed the tool type after the couple of jobs with the same tool sometimes you need additional toolpath regeneration .

IOW the toolpath may have no X sign ,and that means

that verifier uses old NCI for simulation

Try to make ramesaver and regen and try one more time
